I love how the response to fears of gay male teachers preying on male students is to keep them from being teachers, but for straight male teachers it’s that female students need to cover up. Can you imagine the outcry if people were calling for male student-athletes to put on shirts and longer running shorts and stop

I agree. Sometimes, you are going to be attracted to people you can’t date. That’s life. Dealing with those feelings without dragging the other person into it is part of being an adult. Take a cold shower and stop staring at little girls’ legs, ffs.

It’s... did I just go to high school on another planet? Or what?

Nah, her use of “natural” and “unnatural” all over the place has a huge justificationist effect. It’s “boys will be boys” rephrased over several tweets.

Presumably those men didn’t know you were 12, they just pegged your age wrong. Badu is talking about male adults working in a school setting knowing that these are children — and their charges.

I’m pretty sure dudes are gonna get ideas no matter how long/short girls skirts are. I refuse to be held responsible for other people’s thoughts, I don’t always like being responsible for my own. I most definitely will not accept responsibility for anyone else’s actions .

When I find this show goes a bit hammy (and really any show or movie based on a comic), I remind myself that it is based on a comic, where things are generally hammier and cheesier than other media. Then I find it acceptable. I disliked Kick-Ass for the cheesy hamminess, then imagined the characters with speech

I really believe that they thought that we would all spend the summer in a “who shot JR” style world wide discussion. Instead we are in a world wide “well that sucked; guess we will find out this fall” discussion.

Nay. I read somewhere that Daryl and Michonne merchandise sells the most out of any of the other characters’, so I think they’re here to stay (for a while, at least).

I really liked the construction of this episode, its introduction of uncertainty (wait, she was pregnant, but now it’s been two YEARS and she’s pregnant, so…?), and the implication that we will be able to watch an entire season knowing that whatever happens is somehow doomed to failure, but none of the protagonists

Is it me, or when Jamie took his shirt off, is he looking more, um...*swole* than he did last season?

I found Pittsburgh to be a most odd place. I lived there for just two years, and man, it was so strictly gender structured. The racism was very strange, too. I lived in the east end, where things were . . . more progressive. And there were/are progressive people there (i found them!), but I was really shocked with

I get it. When I worked at an animal shelter, people were always accusing the employees of not caring, missing that even if someone is at a job out of love or wanting to make the world a better place, they cannot fix everything, and they cannot be in the constant state of hysteria they feel they would be in if the

Honestly, people who think it’s that easy really need to TRY IT. Just one day oughta be enough.

My daughter thought that sitting on the laps of those she loved was about getting in a good snuggle than anything.

Yep, I sure have a blasé attitude about it, idiot. Until you spend significant amounts of unpaid time DAILY writing referrals for administrative discipline which means nothing to these kids (they don’t care about suspensions, they don’t have recess or other privileges to take away, and parents don’t approve ASD’s) and

OMG it is so nasty when people sexualize children. I have an aunt who would make comments when my little baby/toddler daughter would sit on men’s laps (Oh, she’s going to catch so many boyfriends, with all that ‘sitting on laps’!). I screeched “NOBODY’S GOING TO SEXUALIZE MY TODDLER. STOP IT!” before I even fully

It's funny you reference the Marie Antoinette movie specifically. I follow Terry Dresbach on Twitter and wish I could find the tweet, but she was bemoaning the inability to rent at some point last year when they were starting to prepare for this season and literally asked where all of the costumes from that movie had

There’s a lot of understructure under there, along with just a sheer amount of fabric. I made a petticoat that isn’t anywhere near ornate at this, and for a 28 inch waist, I used about 5 yards of fabric. Pleats galore. Along with a bum roll, other petticoats and my mantua I couldn’t sit in one of the chairs we had.

Fun Fact! This is part of why women’s clothes button right over left, and men left over right. If you have a maid/steward dressing you they are likely right handed. Women’s clothes usually button up the back, so it is easier for a right handed person if the buttons are on the left placket. Men’s clothes usually button
