I AM. I have absolutely no idea what the doctors looked like. It barely registered that they were there.

I’ve never gone into battle without a black woman,

Chris is speaking the truth. It seems to me he’s also subtlely talking about colorism toward actresses of African descent as well. Almost every “black” actress cast in movies/tv these days is light skinned/biracial/multi-racial. Hollywood really does not like dark skinned black women.

I’m starting to think the Oscars are actually going to be pretty entertaining this year. I can’t imagine Chris Rock not openly giving the Academy major shit during the broadcast.

I was at a party like this once. One of the “hired ladies” approached me and introduced herself. When I told her my name she asked “Is that your stage name or your real name?”. After I told her that I don’t have a stage name she very kindly schooled me on the importance of protecting myself and keeping my identity

On the flip side, my father got invited to the best medical conference ever. They shut down Harry Potter world (beats me how and for what price) and let them ride as they pleased with no public. I was seething with jealousy.

The worst part about this is this is not a minor conference. JP Morgan is massively important and a lot of companies do major announcements there. The invite list is small and generally you need to be very high up the reporting chain to go. Opting out would be a huge career hit for someone, so it’s not even like these

Your dad is great.

“Was Marla really worth it?”

Popular buttons and stickers included ones that say, “If she can’t please her husband, she can’t please the country,”

It’s their internalized misogyny manifesting as “not like the other girls” syndrome. They’re not the kind of women he’s insulting, obviously, they’re better.

came him a dick to his face

Yes, it is, and it’s the Fear of a Black President.

I think that anyone who can admit that they carry bias can be open to growing. I also think that a lot of people have been conditioned over a long period of time to believe that they don’t carry subconscious bias and thus they will never grow out of it. The people who can honestly say, “Look, I admit that I have this

I’d have to disagree just based on my own expirences. The 80s and 90s were worse.

I swear it’s social media. Before these bigots had knowledge of how many like-minded assholes there were, they were usually just the relative you hated at Thanksgiving. Now they have an echo chamber on Facebook and Twitter where they can find every other asshole who agrees and it emboldens all of them.
