Once I was at a baby shower for my friend who had requested only gender-neutral presents. She knew she was having a girl, but didn't want only pink stuff, because she didn't want to start stereotyping her right from the beginning. She was very clear on this. Despite that, almost all her family and work colleagues

I wish people would stop using this term at all because it reeks of the worst excesses of political correctness. I'm all for calling out racist shit, when it is racist shit but I am highly suspicious of any tool of analysis that requires me to first assign a race to an artist and then assign a proper racial category

Key lime! It's in october so probably a few seasonal choices as well.

I did gold. And blingy. I have never before been blingy. It was spectacularly out of character for me. It was fun. People are still talking about it.

Also, I don't know why white or cream is still the go-to for a wedding dress. I totally want to stand out, and will do so with like a metallic brocade, some loud gold number or something equally as jaw-dropping and possibly tacky.

I plan to be carried in by nude cabana boys covered in gold body paint to "Ride of the Valkyries" [I wish].

I do not like weddings or the mania surrounding them. Wedding colors, and the rules governing them, are just...dumb. I had a teeny tiny winter wedding to take advantage of inexpensive rates and heaps of already-in-place (aka FREE) seasonal decorations. But despite my wedding aversion, part of me lusts after fall

I tried to leave this question unanswered but finally decided when the venue asked me. I feel like I happily made people roll their eyes (as if I wasn't taking my own wedding seriously) when I went with "whiskey and wine" as my colors.

Purple and green, you say?

Since colors are overwhelming I suggest my own personal technique: pick something you like that's a color, and then another color that goes with it, tada! Don't make it about the colors (unless you really want to*), make it about the things you like and want to include.

I got married twenty years ago and didn't want to get silly about colors. So I picked a sort of no colors color scheme: white and dark green. We had lots of white flowers and green plants, my dress was white, the bridesmaids' dresses were dark green, and it was very simple and not in your face.

I'm calling it: Sean Bean's character dies

"Rapunzel, Rapunzel please let down your hair."

Robin Hood was not a fox, however.

I found out about this last week and I was so excited that Rapunzel will be played by a black actress on a primetime network show. Glad to see this get some recognition.
