No, it wasn’t fundamentally broken. With few key tweaks you could have had something there. But still, somehow Valve managed to make the worst decisions with that system. Next time (and there will be next time, you bet) I hope they’ll take the modding community’s wishes into account a bit more than not at all.
You are forgetting that people by nature are lazy. Which is the very reason why Steam has won over piracy. It’s just way more convinient to pay for the game than to pirate it. Same applies here. Don’t worry guys. This doesn’t mean we won’t get another Silent Hill game. I’m sure they’ll find another studio to do the next game, and it’ll be fine. We don’t even need Kojima involved... I mean look at how good the last two Silent Hill games were.
