I can’t see the video, but Jeff Bridges sounds pretty drunk.

“There. I made a better chart.”

“But most importantly, small talk—especially in regular daily transactions—is how we acknowledge fellow human beings as something more than fleshy androids who facilitate the exchange of capital for goods and services.”

I don’t think he was offended. He was just helpfully pointing out that your joke doesn’t make very much sense. Kind of like:

OK, thanks, THIS is actually a counterargument (along with your links to back it up):

OK ... but you didn’t address my argument, which is that you are paying for the better school district. Meaning when you sell, you are just getting that premium back, not making extra money.

I never quite understood the logic of this.

Both of those clubs are SO hot right now.

Wait, how was Everybody Wants not on Metacritic? I am 100% sure I’ve heard “Kiss This” on the radio well before March of this year, and I assume that’s because of the first album.

1) I think the increase in optimism isn’t as large as you’re making it out to be. I saw a poll before either the second or third game (can’t remember which) that showed about half of US fans would accept a loss [meaning we wouldn’t advance out of the group] if it meant Klinsmann would be fired. I still think we’d be

Did everyone else in the world start using the word “colorways” when I wasn’t looking?

The best part of this whole post is the impressed announcer calling him Hedo Turkoglu after the greatest behind-the-back pass in NBA history:

I almost missed it.

Yeah, and if you take away Pete Prisco’s ability to write a logically sound article, then ... OK, bad example.

“This isn’t to say Klinsmann couldn’t do better, or that he’s even all that good at the actual coaching and strategizing aspects of managing, but as we’ve said before, what’s keeping the team from World Cup glory has nothing to do with the nit-picky things his biggest detractors harp on as justifications for his

Excellent point about the goal differential. If the US only won 2-0 against Costa Rica, a tie against Paraguay would put them at 0 GD. That would mean a 3-1 Costa Rica win over Colombia would eliminate them. That’s unlikely, but not *nearly* as unlikely as a 6-0 Costa Rica win.

“If, somehow by the grace of the CONCACAF gods, Colombia do indeed lose, and we win as we should, we very well could win the group”

Colombia doesn’t need to smash Costa Rica. A USA tie + any Columbia result better than a 6-goal loss, and the US advances.

Who knew that Conan O’Brien was in going to be in the Olympics?!
