Watching this makes me want to give side eye to my own eyeballs in a hateful cyclical death embrace.

Hmph. She was on time when I saw her fifteen years ago. And she was amazing. I have heard that she can't sing like she used to. Does anyone know if that is true? Is her voice gone? That always breaks my heart.
She's Team Cake. And she's putting frosting on allegedly piping hot just-out-of-the-oven cupcakes and it's somehow not melting.
You don't have to make assumptions to write a think piece. This was all about how the Carter/Knowles marriage (and, more specifically, Beyonce's public persona) is important to you personally, and in your view, important to the Black community at large. Just because it has a clickbaity headline doesn't mean it wasn't…
My background is NDT, part 145 repairman (limited powerplant) and DAR (i currently work in interiors/seating), not materials design, so not arguing any assesments of the disk failure cause from my betters.
A few years ago I went to Seattle’s Museum of Flight to hear Captain “Sully” Sullenberger give a talk about the crash of US Air 1549. Much to my surprise sitting near me was Al Haynes! Since my dad had been a UAL pilot until 1968 also stationed in Seattle and their careers had overlapped I asked if they had ever flown…
I would like to thank everyone for their kind words. I really enjoyed some of the insightful comments regarding the United 232 crash in this post –most particularly Braniff747SP.
Engineers had a pretty good idea of the exact cause before the plane had even landed. This was a known manufacturing flaw, complete with maintenance procedures to monitor the progression of the flaw, and determine when replacement was necessary. Maintenance failed to properly follow the procedure.
Thank you for your kind comments. It took nearly a decade to release the anger. I'll never be able to release the guilt. It's not survivor's guilt. That comes later during therapy. It's the guilt no one wants to discuss. It's the guilt that leads us survivors to remain quiet.
I appreciate the sincere question. Ultimately it was a technique called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. To this day I practice EMDR alone when flying via head phones from an Aussie therapist named Mark Grant.
Hello, ICU nurse here. I have no need to know your private information, but if you are able to share, I'll be iinterested in hearing your story tomorrow. Thank you for taking the time to recount your experiences. It is a small comfort to know you have a trustworthy loved one who can help shoulder your burden; I can't…
A remember reading not to long ago that some present and former plane inspectors were trying to draw attention to the fact that the airlines were closing their US based inspection facilities and subcontracting out the work to places in Mexico and other South American countries. They were upset that the personnel and…
One of the reasons they found the exact cause was they found the broken turbine blade about a year later when a farmer hit it with his plow. He got $100,000 from GE for finding it.
Glad you are alive. If it is not much to ask, could you go further into the "Mental" treatment, as in what worked, what did not? If it is too much to respond, I will not question further. Physical scars heal, sometimes. Mental ones never go away, I am still looking for a way to deal with my nightmares, not from an…
AMR did what was right. They took care of our well-being as it related back the crash.
I failed to address your last comment. You learn not to speak of such things over time. That's why I purposely created a burner account. That's why I want my spouse to proof my post in case I'm dropping hints as to who I am.
Anyone who is interested in aviation or how people function under pressure should read this, the text of Capt. Haynes' lecture to the NASA-Dryden facility. It's pitched at a knowledgeable audience, but very clear and understandable. Also, inspirational, fascinating and incredibly moving. http://www.clear-prop.org/aviat…
"The Safety Board believes that under the circumstances the UAL flight crew performance was highly commendable and greatly exceeded reasonable expectations."
I have tried it in the sim a few times, never with a positive result.
Twenty-five years ago today, one of the most horrific plane crashes ever caught on video occurred in Sioux City,…
