I had one of these in 2004.

Lol. Apple will probably have OSX looking like this in the future anyway. Neat though.

You can have Google Voice send you email alerts for text messages, missed calls, voicemails (everything, I believe). Stick a label on them in Gmail, or even use the separate inbox lab and you're set.

The hidden navbar pops into view whenever a new tab loads or reloads. I don't see the problem, unless you just browse without paying attention.

Browser gestures make everything even simpler. Right-click on a link, hold down and draw an arrow up: link opened in new tab.

I for one like having an at-a-glance Rainmeter setup to monitor system stats. It's incredibly handy for a machine that regularly utilizes graphics-intensive programs where ram/memory usage, temp etc. are all important stats to keep an eye on. Plus the Aero Peek feature in Windows 7 makes it all even more useful. A

I didn't mean to badmouth Windows. It's actually been completely stable and consistently fast for me as well up to this point. I can't quite pinpoint what caused the error, though I''m sure it''s something I did. Guess I should have formatted and installed 7 from the get-go instead of dual-booting with Vista when it

I would need to get my hands on a Windows 7 install disc. I tried the recovery options from the BIOS to no avail before the complete boot failure that now wont even present me with recovery options. After I try this, I guess there wouldn't be much left to do except reinstall. Thanks though!

Would anyone here happen to know how to manually fix a corrupted Windows 7 bcd/bootmgr? I'm trying to go about this while still salvaging my existing partitions on my hard drive short of having to reformat and reinstall the OS. Windows is becoming a huge pain. Thankfully this CR-48 has been a godsend.

I find it truly shameful that Gizmodo has to keep writing articles teaching its own commenters how to behave. Most of this is common sense; it feels like a guide on how to not be 4chan at this point.

So it would seem to make the most sense that priority for these "invites" would go to Android and CR-48 owners seeing as this would dramatically improve their respective music experiences, but Google seems to handle the whole invite thing very randomly. Is this Google Wave pt. 2 in the making?

Never heard of Facebook Deals. I think the notion of getting paid to watch advertising is rather interesting. Companies paying US to watch their ads seems like some kind of poetic justice.

Chrome OS sounds perfect for you. It's ONLY functionality is web-browsing. Setup is easy-peasy. Just type in your Google account credentials and you're on the web.

That leaves us with the retailers' policy of not intervening in shoplifting. It is the safest-possible thing to do.

Chrome Dev faithful. It's interesting because last year after the Chrome OS CR-48 notebook program was announced, I read later on that signup application links appeared in the new tab page of the Dev version of Chrome before anywhere else. I am now convinced the Dev channel is why I now have a CR-48.

Sure it is, if I wanted a phone. I'm talking about more "Android phone without the actual phone" devices being available like this one. 400 euros is like what, around $600? It's really pointless for me. An iPod touch (an iPhone without the phone) starts at $230. Android needs more devices like that around that price

I want this NOW. Seriously. I would love having an Android-powered device (with an AMOLED screen) without having to sign my life over for $100 every month. I have been using an iPod touch as a PDA exclusively for a few years now. Sure, relying on free wi-fi everywhere you go isn't ideal for most, but I get by

Can't all of these services be circumvented with a hard drive wipe and a fresh OS install?

This is a great guide. I already use myfav.es and Lastpass, but I would recommend a couple other extensions that have made my CR-48 and my main machine seamless.

Upera ftw!
