Does Van have a doctorate? Because if so then yeah...he should keep an eye on him.

“My name is Oliver Queen....”

True, Bruce Wayne would never brag about sexually assaulting women, no matter how much it increased the effectiveness of his disguise.

Except ‘childish antics and womanizing’ doesn’t quite capture Trump, does it.

The problem with that comparison is Donald Trump is also known for being a unapologetically bad person which is not something you can describe as easily to Bruce Wayne.
Richard Branson is probably closer. Larger than life and even a little big-headed sometimes but not straight up repugnant.

His supporters don’t even represent a majority of Republicans. Many voted for him because it was a vote against Clinton, and they will happily support Pence/Ryan in 12 months.

Your comment is a fair point.

Exactly. You chip away/discourage even half-a-percent of his base, and you’d be talking about President Clinton, right now. Like, do people realize how lucky he was not to even speak of the possibility of rigging?

Friedersdorf’s writing is often insufferable, but he does identify as libertarian most of the time unlike Chait. I respect that at least. He usually doesn’t try and wrap himself in the mantle of liberalism like Chait.

It’s important for defeatist liberals to read this stuff. Just today I was berating yet another liberal reciting the mantra that “it doesn’t matter, his supporters don’t care what he does wrong”. His supporters don’t represent the majority of Americans. So yeah, it does matter. It’s our job to chip away at him by

From the Wash Post:

But his job approval rating is a dismal 37 percent, with 51 percent saying they disapprove of the job he’s doing. Rather than being an effective political tactic, Trump’s habit of frequently saying untrue things has led Americans to conclude by a 53-39 margin that he is not honest. Fifty-two percent say that Trump

It might be semantics, but I think the show does show 3 faces of Bruce and Batman as well.

I’ve posted this before, but the most amazing thing about TAS is the intro. It perfectly tells a story - bank blows up, bad guys escape the police, they’re met on a rooftop by a shadowy figure who swiftly takes away their weapons and then drops them off for the police to handle, before returning to his post above the

I think the problem is that people don’t make Batman human when they do this “reversal”, so you end up with two paper-thin facsimiles of characters. The TAS Batman was well fleshed out, though, which is why it works (imho).

Yeah, I remember that episode. It started with Batman threatening to throw a guy off a building if he didn’t talk. (“It’s just you, me and thirty stories.”) Then the flashback to the circus, with the closeup on the trapeze rope swinging out ofthe frame... and then the broken rope swinging lazily back into the shot.

They love that stuff, but were soooo concerned people (aka white people) would be in FEMA camps when Obama won in ‘08.

Watching a surprising number of conservatives defend the Japanese internment as “no big deal” was really surprising. Not to mention those who were positively referencing “Operation Wetback”. There’s a strong illiberalism rising on the right, and some prominent Republicans have bought in.
