I can totally see pesto as a “mother sauce” if you broaden the category to include things like chimichurri, Italian salsa verde, heck even chermoula or zhug sauce. Basically there is a family of herb sauces out there, of which pesto is perhaps the most famous, that includes olive oil, fresh herbs, perhaps something

Have you seen “The Dressmaker” with Kate Winslet?  She’s a couture design that goes back to her rural Australian town and dresses the women there.  Set in the 1950s.  There’s some other personal drama I won’t spoil, but there is a great scene where an outsider gets off the train and all these women in this tiny ass

So all I saw is a baby realizing that if he doesn’t eat, he is going to be punched in the face just as Mickey Mouse was.

Actually, this is exactly what they want. They want to pay for their kids, their trash collectors, their city services, and nada mas.

Exact same logic.

I think the “social norms” is the big one here. You can read through a lot of these comments and see the insecurities of people who see others doing things in ways that aren’t considered “normal”. I HATE the social pressure (especially living in the midwest) that you need to get married, live together, have kids, and

I literally told my mother, when I was 14, that I would only marry a dude if he agreed we could live in separate houses or maybe a fixed up garage or a “guest house” in the backyard.  I could care less who had which abode.

Avoiding awkward run-ins with fellow candidates? Warren’s got a plan for that!

Sounds like an excellent day to listen to the Ramones, drink good cheap beer and pontificate.

I ain’t catholic but he ain’t wrong. My heart almost broke at the end of the confessional scene and I kept saying, “bad priest, bad, bad priest.” That was 100% not what she needed.

I can’t imagine getting a chance to interview Jeanette Winterson and then basically ignoring her! I love Winterson’s work so much, especially Oranges are Not the Only Fruit (and it’s more-autobiographical counterpart Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal?) and The Passion.

What kind of shit ass marketers who work at this firm don’t cover the happy hour tab for interns?

I was accepted into my first choice college and had to turn it down for financial reasons. I was furious with my parents at the time, but I ended up being so, so happy at the school I went to instead. When you’re 18, and in the bubble of senior year, going to your TOP CHOICE school feels like the most important thing

Late 90s Jude Law was truly the pinnacle of male beauty. He’s still hot, but there was nowhere to go but down from how smoking he was in his late 20s and early 30s.

When I was a kid in the 70s, 15% was considered standard....and that was before the Reagan Administration made tips taxable. Now I usually tip 20%, more for outstanding service.

If you can’t afford to tip 20% then you can’t afford to eat out.

You're a fucking jerk.

Local purchase whole is a great idea. A market sized lamb of 120 lbs. will butcher out to about 65 lbs and give you all the cuts to work with. We purchase a kids 4H lamb at auction a couple of times a year to keep the freezer stocked.

Laugh only after you yourself have walked the mean streets of Stoughton, Wisconsin.

truth. before i moved to tucson i never much cared for tortillas either way, but after having them prepared fresh in sonoran style? there is no going back. so delicious.
