I was completely on board with a “Rebecca ends up alone” ending until halfway through season 3, when she broke things off with Nathaniel so she could focus on herself. The moment that happened, I became perfectly fine with her ending up with someone, because she already made the right choice to focus on herself.

I really liked “I never had a real Mom, only a dead one.” Brilliantly dark and meta.

I cracked up the most at them taking turns putting the same blanket over each other. Such a great rendition of such a cheesy trope.

There were several great moments during their “working on the big presentation” montage, but I especially liked Maya saying: “‘Can I speak to the manager?’ And then she said ‘I am the manager.’ It was so embarrassing!”

As nicely played and fun as the pairing was, I didn’t buy into it. Maya seems a bit too aloof to go for Nathaniel. It’s Father Brah or nothing. (Plus, I was pleasantly surprised to learn Maya is, like Darryl, bi in this rom com version of events.)

I really liked how the Movie version of Maya wasn’t much like the real Maya at all (except maybe the idolization of Velma from Scooby-Doo.) Esther Povitsky was excellent. (Also, damn.)

Two points.

I think her questioning why more men weren’t bisexual confirmed she knows she is.

I didn’t know that Hector and Valencia hating each other was a specific thing beyond none of Josh’s friends liking her.

Yeah, I was worried about that too for a split second, but then realised we’ve seen those Valencia and Hector around each other several times over the course of the show (they all went to see a movie together) so it wouldn’t make sense for her to be freaking about seeing him now.

I noticed Valencia’s pronouns tracking too, and feared she was being ambiguous because it was HECTOR. So glad they went with Father Brah instead.

I believe it was Father Joseph -> Father Broseph -> Father Bro -> Father Brah.

I still want to know what happened with Fontana snd why he won’t come back.

Actually, in an Instagram live of Rachel’s on Friday she said he first pops up in episode 8. Skylar was also there on set for whatever episode they were filming.

But the whole point of him being bisexual is that he could end up with a man or woman. The show wasn’t portraying him as realizing he was gay, but that he’d be equally happy with a man or woman.

I used to ask myself that - however this season, to quote Father Bruh, he’s “being a little bitch right now” and his crying at the end doesn’t excuse all the rudeness to Heather.

While watching each of those almost-kisses I was physically doing The Cringe. The only way it could have been more cringe-inducing for me is if they’d done the Nathaniel fake-out with Heather instead.

Rachel’s been posting some of the carpool improv outtakes to her Twitter and they’re hilarious, including half a minute of Vincent Rodriguez III talking about pooping in the school bathroom.

Well, Rebecca does have oedipal daddy issues and Darryl is needy. You know, like Rebecca and Greg’s dad kind’a pairing.

I gotta tell you, this is the first episode in a long time that I thoroughly enjoyed from top-to-bottom. Season 1 levels of enjoyment. Its been quite awhile since I actually laughed out loud at an (American) TV show. Dolgen always (as near as I can recall) does good scripts.
