Here’s the whole quote frrom a similar article on Uproxx:
OF COURSE you should eat the soup. Whatever ick factor the hair contributed is negated by the fact that you cooked it.
I was on a long weekend in La Jolla and met a dude and we hit it off. We went walking along the beach at night and I took him back to my AirBnB and on the way he said he was a Trump supporter.
Now I’m judging you, because calling someone “awful” for having a frank conversation about how we—women—perceive and change our looks is pretty awful in and of itself.
What on earth? Why?
It’s like if Crazy Ex Girlfriend were about Rachel moving to West Covina for Valencia instead of Josh!
Apropos, the verb “addle” originally meant the act of shaking an egg to break the yolk inside, thus terminating gestation without destroying the egg as a population-control method against nesting geese and other waterfowl (who will just lay another one if they lose it, but will sit on an addled one until it goes bad,…
Another annoying “post-racial” hipster who makes shit movies.
The French call it “a là Piscine”, and they’re way classier than I am. So, lets go with yes. You do you!
So ridiculous that she seems to think she can’t be racist because she’s Iranian. Iranians are just as racist as everyone else. When I was over there last summer, I was particularly struck by how much shit people talked about Arabs. Not to mention that every person I met there considered themselves white. So.
I hope she comes here to read this and see how awful she came across. Of course she doesn’t see anything wrong with blackface so she will see any criticism and become defensive.
It’s unfortunate, because I really, really liked A Girl Walks Home Alone, but this interview is...ugh.
Kumail is one of my favorite comedians. I’ve also heard Emily do interviews on several podcasts, and she seems great, too. I wish this movie was coming to St. Louis. I’ll just have to catch it when it goes to stream!
They don’t want the truth, but thanks for saying it anyway. Do you see the other comments? ‘It’s not blackface, it’s performative blackness,’ Blackface is specific, and this doesn’t meet that specific standard.’ GTFOHWTB. These broads have spent and made all this money imitating the essence and nuances of blackness…
I think it’s appropriate. Both Kim K and Ariana Grande darken their skin to look more like a POC for the perceived social benefits. This is akin to white minstrels who wanted to indulge in the culture of blacks with a wink and nod that they were not actually black. Or, quite simply, “Rather to reign in hell than serve…
I agree. I think people cared so much about her because she seemed so neglected as a person by her friends and then by the show itself. But she’s dead, we saw her be dead.
I think both. For me it seemed like they introduced her as a significant character...and then just forgot about her.
Are you young? I think those of us who really love the show grew up on 80's films just like this. The nostalgia is great.
