Why should he? The movie is based on a book that was released in ‘71. I think he would be rather pleased that the talented people he worked with for a long time are off to new shores trying to make their own thing while still paying hommage to Ghibli’s and Miyazaki’s works.

Other than it’s a girl on a broomstick with a black cat that’s about it. The “Flying Witch” anime has more in common with Kiki’s than this does (at least judging from the trailer).

So i’m the guy that did a solid 80% of the construction on SL: Midgar. It was a constant labor of love, and i’m really happy to see you guys taking a look at it. It’s a wonderful place, filled with wonderful people.
