TAG, you're it!
Have you read the NHTSA report?
That's not true, most modern tires that people buy for their econoboxes are in the S or lower rating. You have to specifically seek sports tires if you want to get soming rated 130 (H rating) or above. The lowest rating is L which is 75 mph. That also does nothing for the dolt that bolts on their spare tire that…
So, to your point, if a Focus is speed limited to 120mph and the owner installs tires rated for 112mph (S rated tire) how is the limiter helping him? My point is the owner needs to take responsibility for their actions because any "safety feature" can be defeated and many are without the owner even realizing that they…
I'm quite certain you don't have the data. NHTSA published a report that surveyed accidents and deaths related to seat belts and air bags. There were no documented accident cases were a seat belt killed an occupant but there were 175 cases of air bags killing occupants. Additionally, if people would simply wear their…
Factory set speed limiters. Who thought this was a good idea? The only speed limiter on the car should be when the valves float and the aero drag equals the torque output of the engine.
100% I was just going to nominate this myself. I'm ok with some of the side curtain bags. Seat belts don't do a great job in that plane.
Definitely front air bags. Wear your seat belt and save your life. Put an air bag in front of you and risk your life (even while wearing your seat belt).
You are not alone. I'm right with you on that commercial.
He he, good stuff. This is what makes car culture fun.
The question is, do you want foam on the runway that you slip and slide past or do you want it on the fire truck so it can foam the airplane when it comes to a stop and catches fire? They don't foam runways. That's a Hollywood thing.
That looked like a very nice emergency landing. It's good to see professionals at work. On the flip side it is sure hard to watch that bird scrape along the runway like that. It is certainly going to cost a LOT (<—-get it?) of money to fix it.
I'm not arguing mileage I'm talking performance. A Mini can pull about 0.85 g's lateral and with similar, modern rubber a C3 can do better. I've personally seen 0.89. So a Vette with similar hp, way more torque and better g capability does not equal a Mini out handling it. I'd take on a Mini in a road course challenge…
That nose is much better looking compared to the Toyota version. I just wish they would fix the fenders.
Well at least now we know what new car name to ignore when we see it mentioned elsewhere. You're doing a fine job, Justin (no sarcasm, I mean it).
I applaud the concept. I'm not a fan of 4 cylinders but the fact that they kept the weight down is admirable. I wish the styling were better (and by better I mean not ugly fenders) but overall what a great little car. Are we getting a revival of the sport coupe? I hope so. If they add a convertible then I think buyers…
That is not a crash but a landing incident. If it hasn't fallen out of the sky it isn't a crash. There are a lot of other words to use. Heck, you can even use the word careen.
A Toyota crashing is usually a good thing but he was hitting a Chevy almost every time and that's not cool.
Hey that is pretty cool. I wonder how big the cartridges are for that. They certainly go for some time.
