Nice read. Kinda reminds me of when I drove 120 miles (round trip total) to buy a PS3 when Metal gear Solid 4 came out. After getting home and all the stores closed, I opened it to discover there was no HDMI cable for my HDMI-only TV. I was crushed.

They did. On 3DS. It was fantastic. If they do a remake of a Zelda, I’d like to see another release of Twilight Princess.
I see mine, thanks Mike! Props to the winner, that GIF is hilarious. Now we need the actual screensaver. I’d use it.
So many memories here. I remember my first PC with 3D Graphics. It was a Gateway, with a 3DFX Voodoo 3. The first game I got for it was “Driver”. Until then I had been playing the game on my neighbor’s PlayStation. I’ll never forget how much it blew me away on the PC.
You could repair it yourself is you know how to Desolder and Solder, and find the part. You could find someone who repairs them. Or you could do what I would do: Just go buy a T8 screwdriver and a new Xbox 360 Controller of the same type (depends on whether yours has the transforming D-Pad or not - match that). Then…
Odd timing, I just experienced this yesterday. I noticed my PS3 controller buttons didn’t move as freely as they did when new. I dismantled it with no instruction, cleaned it, and reassembled it with ease. Feels brand new again. Did the same thing to all my Xbox 360 controllers afterward, after a trip to the hardware…
Here’s to hoping Valve will do away with censoring their versions of games. It’s a lame and sneaky practice.
That’s really why I love the metal Gear games. You can get pretty creative finding different ways to complete a task, whether you intended to or not. Surprises like that you mentioned are everywhere. I beat MGS4 5 times, and discovered new ways fool the enemy every time, and usually unintentionally.
I started MG games with MGS4, I can relate. I’d say play anyway. To me, Metal Gear is one of those franchises that jumps around all over the timeline with every game, so really you could start anywhere and enjoy them...
I’v moved to online purchases more and more, for one simple reason: getting what I want from Gamestop is a hassle. If I want a new game, they open hand me an opened/unsealed game which usually has missing insert codes - when I can clearly see a stack of sealed games in the drawer behind the counter when they get the…
I Hope this one wins. Hilarious.
For anyone looking at that LA Noir on PS3: I’ve said before, I’ll say it again: PS3 LA Noir is the best version out of all 3, hands down.

Kotaku’s proudest unskilled photoshopper strikes again!
Amazing work, a truly talented artist!
My circle of friends has a friend, who went to work for Amazon. He changed. He is not happy anymore. He’s cynical and always exhausted. Nobody ever hears from him nowadays. He just goes to work, comes home, stresses about work, sleeps, and repeats daily. When you ask him about his jobs, he gets nervous, like someone…
From someone else who has seen em’ all: don’t skip DS9. I avoided it for a while, when it ran it never appealed to me. Years later on Netflix, I binged it. It slowly became my favorite of all the series’. I feel the show’s more stationery setting of a space station, allows for some great character development, and…
Mr. Wong: congrats, you just became my favorite poster on Kotaku. Voyager was easily my favorite opening. It really captures that feeling that makes you want to go out, and explore space; at least it does for me!
As Kotaku’s self declared biggest Shenmue fan: Yes. This. Good Stuff. Thank You.
There is only one thing about the Windows 10 Xbox app that really sucks. Cortana will not open it. I can say “Hey Cortana, Open ____” and it will open any app on my PC. Except the Xbox App. Cortana just gets confused, and asks me if I mean the Xbox 360 Smartglass App, or the Xbox One Smartglass App.
I’ve been in that stance for a long time. Until 2 weeks ago, when I bought an XB1, only to discover it has had online issues almost daily. Hell, I couldn’t even migrate my account for 3 days.
