IN america cars are required to have amber reflectors at the front between the headlight and the wheel well. I think they might need red at the back as well but i’m not sure...

To be fair, Jeeps have pretty stout suspension, they're body-on-frame and use live axles front and rear, with longer-travel springs and softer shocks than a regular SUV. Add to that the tow truck only taking it a few feet off the floor and i'd wager his Jeep is probably fine.

Not only does it happen, it's such a big problem in the UK that the government issues guidance on how to tell if it's happening to you. (here a lot of police vehicle scanning is done by automatic number plate cameras rather than humans so criminals can get away with it for months if they're careful.)
Counterpoint: in the UK we have a real problem with vehicle cloning: criminals go on ebay or autotrader, search for a car of the same make/model/colour as one they just stole, and get a set of copy plates made up online with that reg number. Instantly the car appears legitimate to police as the copied plates appear to…
