So I joined Next Door and I think I regret it. I’m in what is both a newly developing and older part of Denver and a lot of the threads are somewhat racist? Also I feel like it’s having the effect where my neighborhood seems now dangerous than it is because of the 24/7 posts. I don’t know hard to explain. Anyone else

That does not sound normal. We were encouraged to be supportive of other people in our class and form study groups. There were some projects that often felt very time consuming and seemed to have no purpose and were not worth enough points. The Well Elder project for example. But now I feel differently about that

So after a shit-ton of hemming and hawing and legal maneuvering, my abusive ex has agreed to consent to terminating his rights to my daughter so that my wonderful husband can adopt her. He’s going to be flying down here on Thursday (on my dime, ugh) in order to sign the paperwork. I’m also letting him see the kiddo

Holy shit, you guys. Normally, I’m a lurker, but I need to vent a bit...

It’s been such a lazy-feeling Saturday for me that I keep thinking I’ve done nothing whatsoever. But I’m starting to keep a bullet journal, and I just checked to see what weekly tasks I didn’t bother to do today, and I was shocked to discover that I’ve done everything but change my sheets (a Sunday task), take the

Can any of you nurses out there tell me about your school experiences? I think there may be some problems with my school, and Im not sure if its normal or not. Any feed-back would be greatly appreciated.

A little off topic, but I have a question that Google search is not helping me with:

One of the oddest ideas in Victorian morality was that “good” women did not really experience sexual desire or pleasure. Only prostitutes and “low” women had sexual feelings. As you imagine, this could lead to some major confusion for any “good” woman who liked sex. Prostitution was rife, from the poorest street girl

I think I will make some donations to terribly underfunded PP locations in other states, since California is not in as desperate a situation...Going to look up what PPs need the most help.

Jezzzies this post has nothing to do with Katy Perry but I am posting looking for consolation and advice.

In line at the grocery this morning, I saw the new issue of People magazine. I audibly “tsked”. The man in line in front of me turned and nodded. His young daughter announced “WE voted for Hillary!” Her dad prodded, “And why?” The child answered “Because she’s smart and nice, and he’s dumb and stupid.” So these two

I’m impressed that she’s so vocal about it. Pop stars have to appeal to the masses for success and thus I could see a PR team advising against being a vocal supporter of Planned Parenthood and abortion rights.

I donated to planned parenthood and then got a lecture from a family member about dead babies. So I donated again, double my original amount, in said family member’s name.

Nurses need good written and verbal communication skills. They are the ones who often end up explaining things to patients and their families. They have to communicate instructions and information to each other and lower-level staff. They have to be able to “paint a picture” of what is going on with a patient. If an

The attrition rate for RNs and RN students in huge. So many students have this idealised image beforehand, then they start studying the biosciences or get given multiple long essays to write and they realise it’s actually a really hard degree to complete. And that’s before they go on their first clinical placement and

I will be graduating from a nursing program in December, and this scares the shit out of me. There is a zero tolerance policy for cheating in my program. (Caught = expelled) And let me just say, how the hell are so many students cheating? Perhaps the faculty and administration need to get their shit together. And re:

And for people who don’t have the luxury of not working or only working a few hours a week, nursing school is almost impossible.

As a medical librarian, my mom saw lots of nursing students who clearly didn’t really know what RN’s did. The idea that it involved science and not lots of holding and feeding babies was a shock. Some of them really pictured more of what LPNs do, but that wasn’t a socially acceptable choice.

If someone is going for a BSN (which you really need to do these days) or MSN, they are going to write essays. But even ADN students are required to put together a nursing portfolio, that will have essays about their nursing philosophy etc.

As someone currently procrastinating writing an essay for nursing school right now, THIS IS ONLY IN THE UK.
