Trolling or genuine? The XTS is entirely based on a Buick model, I think the Lacrosse.

This. And the new Chevy models this year were supposed to step up the GM interior game. Whoops.

Thank you.

There's an old-german-car-hoarder in northwest Indiana that many of the local E30 owners have identified as "not friendly to strangers". He has some very precious metal and it is all rotting in a field.

From working in the auto industry for a mere two years, the signifigance of the VW undertaking and why it hasn't been done before now is painfully clear to me.

More like the engineers have to meet a very competitive cost segment while including a boatload of tech and safety features, some mandated and others just to stay competitive. Right now the technology isn't cheap enough to have 50MPG AND a sporty car (on gas), but the Fiesta ST and Abarth are a good start. With

That's all true and I would definitely take the subie, but the question was about what cars should they review that were previously dismissed. I think the crosstour has been dismissed by almost everyone and want the editors to be subjected to the punishment of driving that car for the entertainment of the rest of us.

I grew up with only one parent and she didn't know much about cars. We still went to car shows all the time and would admire the almost cartoon-like hot rods. I can't imagine anything a kid likes more than real hot rods....maybe ice cream.

But compare it to the 1990s. there was no such thing as a fiesta ST. Now there is a SEGMENT of sporty subcompacts. Fun cars are getting smaller and therefore more accessible and I think we live in a very wonderful car time. 34 MPG in a sport tuned hatchback that handles pretty well for FWD?! People might crucify you

And to counterpoint that, it is still more functional than the sedans we are typically subjected to. Plus, people walk out of their house to much more boring cars everyday and somehow survive. I just want jalop to review it so I can either confirm or deny our prejudices without having to drive or experience it for

Methinks you need to go test drive a fiesta ST pronto. I drove one this weekend and it is...just go drive it and see, I don't want to set any expectations.

Why? You aren't looking at the outside of the car when you drive it. On the inside it's probably very nice, and if I had ever bothered to actually look at one I would probably be able to tell you with more certainty.

Sigh. Another comment about how young people would rather have phones than cars. If cars cost <$200 then a lot more young kids would be more than happy to own them. I know tons of young buyers who actually have decent post college jobs and most of us have bought something you would expect, FRS, GTI, MS3, cooper S,

Along the same lines as the previous comment about the CRZ, I think you should take a look at the Honda Crosstour. I casually dismissed the car as pointless as soon as I saw it, but at the same time, it's as wagon-like as any CAR in Honda's lineup (USDM)

I've always heard the GTI was the benchmark from this group.

Agreed, if you don't like this then go back to the 2000s where "performance" models included stickers....and nothing else.

Dear Mazda,

Millenials buy Sonics for the most part because they are cheap (see also: retirees still working at home depot to get by). Its a tough economy and I think the whole point is missed. These "European" style small cars appeal to the semi-young people who have managed to get a job and want to feel a bit more upscale

I would say they've "Lincolned" it. (TM)
