I thought the name was explained in the pilot, that St. Louis was the site where the 'defiant few' humans and aliens alike, threw down arms in defiance of their commanding officers to rescue the survivors of the crashed ark ships which pretty much marked the end of the war and the start of building a new future. And

Even if this show settles in to 'cop show with aliens' (something I don't necessarily think is bad btw) the cultural clash aspect will be interesting if done well, but yeah I liked this episode a lot and hope it just continues to get more awesome.

A lot of my friends are rather critical of, if not out right damning the Carrie remake because they are huge fans of the original but I'm really looking forward to it, I think Moore and Moretz may just turn out perfect for it.

Damn you! that episode of Futurama broke me and I'm not even the biggest fan of the show. Why? Why would you force me to remember that (not that I ever really forgot but at least I can pretend I forgot when it's not right in front of me)?

You're right about the A plot being window dressing for the B and C plots last week, it really made for one very boring episode and I love Grimm. At least the strained, drawn out Juliette-doesn't-know-nicks-a-grimm-and-then-whoops-forgets-nick-completely crap looks like it may be coming to an end if the 'next week on

I hope CBS doesn't have it in for PoI. I don't say this with any certainty but doesn't it actually rate really, really well? Like completely-batshit-insane-if-they-cancel-it well? I even thought season two has been out doing season one ratings wise.

The Volcano episode of Grimm aired last week, at least in some parts I ended up catching it and it was not as fun as I was hoping. Also the scheduling of PoI is driving me barmy I wish they could just air the damn episodes in a timely fashion even if it means it would have finished weeks ago, elementary (which goes

As far as I know (and I say this all with the caveat that I am still watching old doctor whos and am by no means nearly finished) the time lock was done by the other time lords after they decided that both sides using time travel to go back and change stuff was bad of the universe destroying kind or something. What

So a few months ago I got a dog (a very cute chocolate lab who we called River after River from Firefly and a bonus DW reference) and intent on being a good dog owner I signed my pup and I up to obedience training which is where my little tale begins to be relevant to this post.

I totally agree with this, I took 'the only mystery worth solving' to mean both that Clara herself was a mystery worth solving and that the human race as a whole is a constant source of mystery to the doctor.

Perhaps not defending it as such but I actually did enjoy the TV series which is the only other thing besides the original movie I've seen, its actually on my list of shows I wouldn't mind seeing if I can find to rewatch start to finish. It certainly wasn't outstanding but it was enjoyable enough if I was bored and

I think it's become one of those words that has taken on slightly different meanings depending on context and in the context that io9 uses it here I take it to mean any scripted show not grounded in reality. I don't actually mind it's use, I find it's a nice little word that encapsulates an otherwise unwieldy list of

I was totally meh on this squeal, I love Monsters inc, it's one of my favourite ever films, not just favourite animation and I really wasn't sure I wanted to see this since in my book all they can do is drag the awesomeness of the first one down. But now I'd see it regardless of how bad I think it's gonna be!

Aww, I'll have to go have a looksee but now I'm sad was looking forward to a werewolf show.

I haven't caught mention of Hemlock Grove before but after reading this and having a quick look at the (bare bones) wiki, I'm definitely interested.

I can't decide on one but most of the ones I'd list (Farscape, Sarah connor chronicles, flashforward, SG:U, Earth 2, etc) have already been listed so I'll put Mysterious Ways into the pile since I don't think anyone else has mentioned that and it was just a really sweet little show that should have got another season

I would rush home from school to watch this and if I couldn't get home in time my mum would chuck a tape in and record it for me, the one time she didn't I had a meltdown I loved the show that much.

The first season of Hex was awesome but then the second season ruined it, I stopped watching even before it got cancelled.

I rewatched it a while ago as well and I have to say QL has aged better than some younger shows have, it was really quite enjoyable to watch again. I was surprised at how many episodes I remember too considering I was quite young when I would watch this with my dad, it was a show that really stuck with me. In fact I

OMG! this is one of my 'what was that show called' shows I've been looking for, I could vaguely remember it but not its name and not in enough detail for google to land me any results but that poster brought it all back.
