Yeah bring back the old ways when they all looked super different

Truth. Most of these drivers don’t appreciate AWD only works under power and not while braking. I have pointed this out many times and seen as many blank faces.

It is amazing how much better they are. Not just in the snow, but on ice too. The amount of traction good winter tires can find when there’s just none to be had is unbelievable if you’ve never experienced it.

Thanks, great guide. Winter tires are an absolute must. People who have never had them insist they arent necessary. DO NOT BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE. I’m partial to sottozeroes. I would argue tires are more important than whether your car is AWD or not. Posted this in the “cars in snow” thread but even with pure RWD and

You should be able to have Hellen Keller keep +/- 0.005 on a Bridgeport. Narrowing that down to +/- 0.001 isn’t rocket surgery.

Slabs of granite are in every single machine shop and manufacturing facility, basically anywhere. incredibly common and easy method for measuring tolerance, whether big or small.

Some day we will have the fine adjustments that will allow me to take my normal commute (via the Dulles Toll Road) but also avoid the 495 and other toll express lanes.

Tire pressure was off .5 psi, should have used a digital gauge.

Am I doing it right?

Hi

Also needs someone to make custom suspension for it. Obviously way too low for the course, but it will probably do better on tarmac.

Are the stolen Teslas now called Edisons?

Here is a vehicle that will make 5000 horsepower all day long. Sadly it is “track only”.

You have an opportunity to make a four story kart track and waste it on a giant corkscrew and then a hill. And that’s it.

Keep right except to pass. (Even if there are 3 or more lanes, stay to the right, not the middle.)

That’s a hard call, honestly. It’s easy, and almost expected, to at least run over the rumble strips when you’re racing on a road course, making for a blurred line on what should and shouldn’t be called.

How many four wheel off incidents did you see involving one car cutting a corner to make a pass? I didn’t see any. The FIA is lenient on corner exits (turn 9 and 19 saw a lot of leeway all weekend), but they’re definitely not lenient on drivers taking too much apex in a pass.

Also, generally, if you have $100k laying around, you can make a lot more money investing that $100k than you would be losing paying interest on the loan. In this particular case I would disagree, but take your average new car loan of 1-3% interest and yeah, you can make a hell of a lot more investing that money.

I would actually be OK with this. Put them into the impaired fatalities category along with drunk drivers and drug users.

A far easier approach is to NOT COUNT unbelted fatalities as auto fatalities. Instead create a new “idiot” category for them. Lumping them in with belted occupants unfairly penalizes the auto industry and leads to idiotic things like automatic seat belts.
