The mk4 was a Jetta wagon in Canada. Had the Jetta front clip.

But they’re both soft top convertible, longitudinal mounted, rwd*, inline 4 powered, fun, impractical vehicles!

My dad is retired and drives for a Audi dealership.

I hardwired an additional 12V socket into my glove box of my car. That way I don’t have to cut up every power cable to hard wire devices, but can still keep the cables hidden.

Price. Why would the manufacturer run two canbus cables to the steering wheel? They can use one cable and have the network sort out between the cruise control / paddle shifters and volume / audio control.

Use the diff cover. Mount a motor to the back, have a second pinion gear sticking through which interfaces with the ring gear.

And if you have a cheap / beater manual transmission car, do your friends a favour and offer to teach them. I taught a few people to drive manual throughout the years. Most people just need that opportunity.

For sure. It was thoroughly confusing to me as well, and terrifying. Luckily it’s only happened with no cars in front of me, because I clearly recall not being able to stop when/where I wanted.

I have not rear ended someone doing this, but this exact thing happens to me the odd time in my car with flip flops. Never happens in the truck though. So I have learned not to wear flip flops while driving the car, but I don’t believe that wearing flip flops while driving is wrong.

My brother and I were taking turns pushing my moms car in circles in an industrial area near our house. One guy came to help, thinking there was something wrong. We told him there was nothing wrong with it, and we were doing it for exercise only, but he didn’t understand that, so he kept helping push for quite a while

These guys are good. But something else I noticed is that all the drivers do a good job getting out of the way, and helping cars around them get out of the way (by opening up gaps, etc). In North America, everyone is too busy updated their twittergram and instabook to care and move out of the way.

We were just in Orlando for a trade show, and Google Maps (or was it apple maps...?) kept on pronouncing “Tradeshow Rd” as “tradashaw rd”. Thoroughly entertaining.

The police didn’t even need to dig up any dirt to arrest these guys.

That’s appaling. The worst part is that normal people are always taking their cars there. For car enthusiasts who have an idea of what’s right and wrong, and what’s required and bogus, its one thing. But to just screw over their entire unsuspecting customer base so systematically like that - it really really bothers

Exactly. And what do you tell them? “Take the oil & filter back off the car. I’ll take it elsewhere”.

I was planning on taking said tires down the road to a small tire shop for install. Until I was told installation was “free” with the purchase of the tires.

CAD, but yeah, still obscene. (This was last fall, when our dollar was close to par).

I bought tires online from Canadian Tire, for delivery to my local store. They had a 25% off sale with a $60 rebate, so it was a fantastic price. They called to leave a voicemail saying they were in. So I called back to arrange to pick them up. They asked me if I wanted to make an appointment to get them installed. I

I sold a car Sunday morning, and the guy wanted to pick it up Monday right after work. So I needed to get a safety inspection done on a sunday afternoon. I knew it was a mistake to take it to Canadian Tire, but I couldn’t find another shop open on Sunday afternoon. I knew the car would pass, as my brother, a licensed
