I largely agree with most things written in this response. Hell, I absolutely loathe “Demands of the Qun” and was expecting to be on the same page with the original article about why it is awful, but this just goes to a really weird direction that doesn’t seem to get the Qunari like at all.

Coming from an Catholic family i find Varric and Iron Bull’s rejection of these cultural heritage roots very relatable. These are extremely uncompromising places to come from and they’re rejecting Varric and Iron Bull as much as they are rejecting their roo.

I also think the writers were trying (but didn’t quite succeed) at pointing out Bull was one of those people who really wouldn’t be happy under the Qun he just hadn’t quite realized it, especially since most people who leave the Qun become pretty bad people since they lack any concept of morality outside of the Qun…

Regarding Iron Bull, I think the problem isn’t Iron Bull or “Demands of the Qun” so much as it is a more general issue with how the Qunari have been portrayed.
