Only 46% of 2,359 audience members who rated the Last Jedi on Rotten Tomatoes gave it a positive review.  Most lambasted it.  That’s really bad. That’s lower than Uncle Drew. And it’s wildly out of step with the critic reviews on the same site, which if you read them (the major ones anyway) weren’t that great. On IMDB,

Its easy to crank out movies when you don't bother writing a decent script first. Really speeds things along in preproduction...

So are people allowed to complain about Solo from here to infinity simply because the box office failure? I mean at what point are people allowed to complain? Only when it suits you?

It had some moments, but overall TLJ was poorly written, with massive plot holes, nonsensical character arcs and a Mary Sue protagonist. That said, it’s really Rian’s disdain for SW fans in general, and his juvenile attitude towards valid criticism that turned me off the most. I have zero interest in seeing any of his

Smart, giving the asshole that ruined Star Wars more to make. Stock holders are going to be mad. TLJ preformed far less than expected, and ruined interest people had in Star Wars, which is proven by Solo’s poor ticket sales and the cancellation of all the spinoffs. This media group is almost dead so it’s not going to

Booooooooo Rian Johnson. How he could have taken the great plot points and thematic setups given him by The Force Awakens and squandered them on weak “surprises” is beyond me. The Last Jedi was very destructive both to the Star Wars Story and to the universe in which it is set—worse than the prequels. I suppose it

It’s like the movie’s supporters know on some level that it’s really not very good so they’ve decided to actively attack anyone criticizing the film on a personal level instead of responding to their complaints with the film itself.

It is kind of weird that it’s impossible to criticize TLJ without being dismissed as an “angry insecure asshole” or a “manbaby”. It’s like the movie’s supporters know on some level that it’s really not very good so they’ve decided to actively attack anyone criticizing the film on a personal level instead of responding

I’m out after Episode 9. Didn’t see Solo. Just too much fatigue. The fan base doesn’t help.

I’m only going to be excited about this if Rian Johnson gets a co-writer this time. TLJ is a movie full of interesting ideas hobbled by poor writing.

They shot Wayne’s World in 38 days.

Is it ok to just not like his version of Star Wars and not have it have anything to do with Rose or Aldo? How about we hate his movie because the entire first section of the movie revolves around someone not hanging up on a prank phone call? Or how about how the entire plot hinges around Rose and Finn accidentally

Poor guy looks like their hostage.

Normally I would apologize for making a baby cry, but in your case, I’ll make an exception.

I maintain that the primary problem is not Rian Johnson, but simply their insistence on maintaining the one-Star-Wars-film-per-year pace that’s throwing things off. If they’d just had another year, and a couple more drafts of that script, I think TLJ could have been the game-changer they kept insisting it was.

What, you don’t want to see what a rushed and half-formulated Star Wars movie looks like from the same people who couldn’t deliver a good one with all the time and reshoots in the world?

Just what this bloated zombie franchise needs, rushed product.

I miss the days when it took fifteen years between installments.

There’s no way this is released in two years. Shoot it in two years? Maybe. Released in two years? Nope.

Jezebel can be so confounding
