Gawker was 100% behind the Anne Hateaway movement. We are all complicit in this as well. At least Rich apologized for his role in tearing her down, but where is our apology?

I used to have a coworker who had debilitating migraines, with the worst occurring around her period. In the 5 years we worked together, I don’t think I ever saw her work a full week. She was out at least 1/2 day, and usually a full day every week. During her period, she was frequently out for the full week (and she…
No one said it was her job. Tilda asked if it was ok, very politely. Cho accepted. You can’t just absolve her of the words she said after that because she shouldn’t have accepted in the first place. How would you suggest Tilda gain knowledge on the subject?
Cho has made herself one of the main voices of this debate and was publicly criticizing the movie and Swinton. If someone does that, they can’t then claim that if someone wants to talk about it with them that they are being turned to as the only Asian in the room. She has set herself up as an expert on this issue for…
Why isn’t it ok?
Tilda Swinton and Margaret Cho have enjoyed extensive discussion over Swinton’s casting as the Ancient One in Doctor…
figure out for themselves what they can do to make the world less racist. It. Is. Not. Our. Job.
1) really not outraged
“Maybe she thought Tilda was just using her to alleviate some of her white guilt.”
If they hadn’t changed the character, Jezebel would be whining about Asian stereotypes.
That is just stupid. You want white people to be something they aren’t, yet you don’t want to give them any guidance.
So, this is pretty much just Tilda Swinton laying the fucking smackdown on Margaret Cho.
Because Tilda Swinton, who had no relationship with all before this, tapped her as the One Asian Friend and went from “hey, can we talk about this” to “oh wise Asian, please enlighten me as to how we can make the entire world a better place?”
Waiting for the people on the original story who commented about Tilda “just having that vibe” and “this is just the way white people think” to show up and start shoving some crow down their throats.
I’ve been reading several responses to this and I am definitely seeing it now. It’s the insidious kind of “I’m a woke white person” stuff that gets in the way of actually making progress.
I’m Latino and gay... and couldn’t disagree more with your comment.
so are you mad that a black actor was then cast in place of a white guy or nah? Just curious where your outrage is at on this.
She has connections to a different culture, whatever. The point is Swinton made an honest and well-intentioned attempt to understand this issue and was not rude or offensive about it at all. And Cho shat on her publicly for no good reason.
fuck off Margaret Cho
“Its not my job to teach you even if you ask in earnest but fuck you for not knowing?”
