So instead of a diesel icing the charging station, someone can double park their 9000lb Hummer and take up 2 chargers. That’s some true ‘murican progress.

Looks horrendous. The pointy beak at the front made me immediately think of an early 1990's Buick Skylark

I believe that the cost and complexity involved with retrofitting this into cars is vastly undersold by the author. And I do agree that it would be a bit annoying to have to deal with on a daily basis, especially for people who don’t drink at all. But I think I would deal with the annoyance for the peace of mind that

Yeah, I want one of these. Probably won’t spend $50k on a car any time soon, but this brings together everything I like about the 240, 300, and 370. Wouldn’t mind some pop up headlights or t-tops as a Z31 throwback (used to have one), but we all know that’s not realistic.

Can’t wait for the $10k+ market adjustment from dealers.

This just reminded me that I forgot to add The Autopian to my RSS reader.

I doubt there's a ton of investment for this. They already have the Highlander, so it's not like they're creating a new model from scratch. Design a new front clip, new tail lights, and put nicer materials inside, and that's basically it. Then they can maybe lose the RX L, or consolidate the GX/LX into one model.

I think there needs to be a distinction made between paying a subscription fee for a service and a subscription fee for a feature.

Yes, seems like the kind of story Jalopnik would be in an even better position to report on.
