To the new Maverick buyers: Were you able to drive one somewhere before ordering? When I drive by the local Ford dealer there are tumbleweeds blowing across the lot and they have a few used F-150s sitting out front.  I can’t imagine ordering a vehicle without driving it.

OEMs should hate it. If Ford designed the Maverick to be a $30k vehicle, but then your dealers and a bunch of asshole flippers hold them hostage for $40k, it isn’t accomplishing what you intended it to be.

It really opens up markets that didn’t exist to “trucks” before. I own a Prius and would consider replacing it with a Maverick (although the Prius is very versatile for hauling stuff). I imagine they also get interest from the Escape/CR-V/RAV4 customers who think having a bed might be nice. If they made a hybrid AWD

I’d say “but he is in Australia” but we know distance has never stopped him.  Hence why he owns two cars in Australia.

Yeah, dealers could absolutely do the whole thing over email.  But they are dealers, so you probably need to “come on in” at most places and they’ll try to sell you a $50k Ranger instead of the $30k Maverick you wanted.

Roll up to the funeral blasting some Dokken.

Chevy really seems to have the market cornered at the moment for under $40k EVs (let alone under $30k).  I mean the Leaf with the bigger matter is quite a bit more.  The Hyundai/Kia siblings are $50k+ in the real world.  The Toyota bzT-Rex or whatever it is called is $50k.  And most of those don’t qualify for the tax

Does anyone think the President is going to take a shuttle bus?

I like the offer here. Good condition, but not too nice not to keep driving it. If you are going to get a C4, might as well get a ZR-1. If any of the C4s are going to appreciate, it is a ZR-1.

I always thought Subaru AWD, Quattro, and SH-AWD were a step above your generic “AWD” that goes in a RAV4 or similar CUV/SUV.

Given the time and money, there are a ton of directions I’d be willing to go in.

So it has only gone about 900 miles since 2012? I don’t know if that is a selling point.

Isn’t it getting expensive to acquire a halfway decent 2002? I used to look periodically but haven’t in a while. Used to be just the tii models commanded a premium, but I think they all got “discovered” somewhere in the past decade.

Maybe I’m too sensitive, but the super bright rear license plate lamps has me wondering about what else might be on this car that is less than desirable.

First, if I could get one of these for under $50k I’d potentially be interested, but I’m sure our super valuable Toyota dealers won’t let that happen. So might as well forget about the GR Corolla. Although even with $50k in hand, I’m not sure where I find an alternative with AWD and a MT besides a WRX, which I don’t

Man, I saw one of these exactly like this one parked on the street the other day.  What a great looking car.

While not my cup of tea, you put in all this work and then you put those hideous wheels on it? And the Pep Boys gas cap cover? Come on man.

There you go.  But if it was a known “limited quantity” vehicle, then the dealers would mark them up $15k and go “I know what I got” when you suggest a lower price.

I don’t get why more of these rich people don’t drive these. If you can afford a Ford GT (or any other exotic), you don’t exactly need handle it with white gloves as an “investment” that appreciates so you can retire or send your kids to college. Enjoy the car.

My first thought is how miserable this must be to drive with the added bulk and so little power.
