As much as I like to admire them, German performance cars and their associated maintenance and repair bills probably will scare me off forever.

$10k markup because the dealer exists. Then another $3k in bullshit with 90% profit margin. But hey, maybe someone who can afford $500 a month will fall for it as long as they can finance them for 10 years.

Lotus DNA or not, this was back when the primary reason for buying a Hyundai or Kia was it was cheap.  Otherwise you were rolling the dice on a subpar vehicle.  Good luck getting parts for this thing too.  I’ll just take a Miata.

Are there sufficient tie downs and such to secure cargo that will inevitably be longer than that bed.

I have a Subaru/Kia dealer here, and it seems like the Kia really rubs off on the place.

Just browsing cars.com....

Just looks like they removed all the “555" logos. Not sure why. Probably just didn’t want to leave the space blank. Looks like this is the car in action.

I’ve never understood the hate for these.  Yeah the styling might not be your cup of tea, but it has decent power and should be a comfortable cruiser to enjoy on a day like today (70 and sunny here).  This isn’t meant to win at the drag strip or take on the Ring.  I wouldn’t spend $17k on even a nice one like this,

Yeah the amount of people I see in “high tech” luxury vehicles and Teslas who apparently can’t use pair their phone with their car is astonishing.

This is expected I think. OEMs desperately want an income stream after the purchase of the vehicle. If they can design a feature to sucker people into paying for updates (what is the percentage of people that actually update navigation systems? 5% maybe?), then they are finding success. Just throwing in the towel to

Apparently RIP Mark Eaton. Died in May.

I should have bought one of these when I was younger and stupid and seriously considered doing so.  Hell, I think it was about $30k then for a moderately used one.

I can’t believe it is factory. It looks like something you’d see glued on to the interior of a Honda Civic because someone wanted wood trim.

Especially not a mass produced one. I could understand it more if this was a limited run, so get it today before it is gone. Even then I think these markups usually fail the “value” test because the markup puts into competition it wasn’t meant to compete with.  Like the Hyundai Veloster N that could now be had for BMW

I remember the LSS being one of the few GM offerings that Car and Driver liked back when it came out.  The Aurora probably being the other one.

Yeah one of the biggest dealers in my major metro area (probably 20 locations) seems to be happy to play the markup game. Just found a $118k Ford Raptor...it is stock from the description. MSRP of $80k. Oh, the cars.com ad says they just dropped the price $7k from $125k.

Thinking about it a little bit, the owner should have brought this thing to the Mecum or Barret Jackson auctions I just saw on TV over the past few weeks in Texas. Seems every other listing was an older pickup or SUV (because Texas I guess?).

No one else was dressing like they were the third member of Kris Kross?  Not backwards clothes, but the same clothes in general.

Rob is on a streak here with “who the hell saved this thing?” cars.

Yes. The SX4 has always been on my radar for an all-weather commuter beater.
