Don't forget about VAT, which runs from around 17-25%, and that's on top of the income tax. Then the fuel taxes. And the personal property taxes.

Tyler,

No, it persists. Normal wait times for wake turbulence for departing behind a larger aircraft is 90 seconds. Seems like you wait forever, but it's a lesson borne of hard knocks, post-accident analysis, and some NASA research.

This shot of the USS Curtis Wilbur in drydock shows just how much surface area is on each of its variable pitch screws.

One of the big advances on the F-35 that will *hopefully* save a lot of money in the future is reduced maintenance of the LO coatings. A lot of that tech is classified, but you can kinda get a feel for where the industry is going by looking at the past:

"Gentleman, you have a race." Many a Reno racer benefited from his expertise at assisting them down during an emergency. I've watched Bob in his Shrike routine many times over the years, and it's first amazing, almost like watching a Clydesdale perform a ballet. You see it but don't really comprehend it.

True, but the engine in the #3 and #4 cars is 5.5l per Lemans rules. The same tech and block design as the LT1 engine, but smaller displacement.

Seems like a pretty benign intercept to me. Airmanship rules for formation flight has (for this video):

It's hard to tell how much difference the props make, because they're only on the J models, which are massive upgrades from the older E and H models. Lots of performance improvement between those models, part of it from the upgraded engines and props.

Honestly wanted to see him run until 100 wins, but that's a long time running with his back. Started following Jeff when I saw him on ESPN's Saturday Night Thunder back in '92.

THAT was my favorite part!

Also, it's really good to see Kenny B. racing again; I was at Texas Motor Speedway in 2003 when he had his awful crash; it was horrifying to watch. We were just glad he lived through it - to see this vid of him manhandling this beast gladdens my heart.

That is an ASTONISHING video! Major thanks for starting my day off with that! Sounded more like some off road race truck in loose dirt than on a track on what, slicks????

Tyler,

The YT video didn't have any attribution to what application that recorder was for, but I don't see how it could survive much of any of the standard survivability tests, except fire and submersion: 1-4 3400g impacts on the most vulnerable vector, 500 lb. wt. from 10' through a hardened 1/4" steel pin on each face,

Tyler, I think pragmatically, given our current legislature and administration, these were decent choices. I don't like it, I think strategically we'll be back, but in the meantime it's a consolidation that serves the US best.

My favorite was the '94 Spanish GP where his transmission got stuck in 5th gear and he *still* finished 2nd!

See, Mazda was putting LS1 engines in the FD *way* before everyone else. ;) j/k

Why, why, why are you pulling him out of there? He shouldn't be applauded, he should be barred from racing until he takes a first aid class.

Hmm, so with your logic, where's the X32? It was a RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT program, NOT a contract to field a fighter aircraft.
