I’m right there with you. The game was beautiful and the characters were wonderfully charming. It’s a highly underrated game and deserved a legit sequel to continue the story.

but consider this! If the 2008 one never gets a sequel, it’s one of the rare interesting stories that *SPOILERS* actually just straight up end with “you broke it, hero”, without any fix. I kinda love that.

It is odd, considering how many FF games have been remade, remastered or ported to other systems, especially in the last 5-10 years. I’d say maybe Square Enix doesn’t care about Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, except they just said they consider FFVII Remake part of it.

It would be like printing money. People would buy it up even if nothing were remastered.

The remake is still canon with the original timeline, it just literally takes place in an alternate timeline. But the events of the remake are built off of events of the OG timeline.

Damn, you can’t even buy Crisis Core digitally!

If you wanna look at cliches, just look at the first game. Every single zombie/post apocalyptic story trope is in that thing. Yet they still managed to tell an affecting story because the moment-to-moment writing is good.
