Its wild to me because I definitely bought into the Playstation vs XBox console wars when I was like, 17. But that was almost 20 years ago, the idea of building my identity around what box I play games on is just not a way to live your life.

Not everybody has money to buy all the consoles, but like, I generally prefer P

Hell the service model stuff didn’t bother me nearly as much as every character looking the same in gameplay terms.  All Captain Boomerang and King Shark picking gun loadouts and running around doing over the shoulder gun kata, everyone have the same dumb looking floaty super jumps.  These characters should play like

I disagree, there are soooo many examples or terrible remasters and remakes. Games that dont know what things to streamline or improve and what should stay the same after so many years, or simply expecting the nostalgia to do all the work when many elements simply havent aged well

Mas Effect: 2007

I was just thinking the same thing, by the time this comes out, I’ll be borderline too old to play games (just as you get older, less time, and just.... physically unable).

Look at the bright side. Once you hit 50, like me, you stop giving a shit. Life is short and there are way too many other great games to get lost in so no sense wasting a single brain cell fretting over a game that won’t come out until I’m collecting social security.

Easy for you to say. I’ll be pushing 50!

It seems like you have a very poor understanding of how old games work.

Holy shit, just when I thought I couldn’t dislike Phil Spencer any more.

Dude’s idea of success is ‘buy all the competition’ rather than, you know, actually investing in his own developers to make better games.  Sure buddy, try to buy the company that has consistently trounced the shit out of you in console sales

He also, weirdly, was in a commercial for some college in Santa Monica (he was an alum there).

Don’t worry guys, media consolidation is actually a really great thing overall and is beneficial for consumers and creators. We swear! Please be excited about Microsoft consuming Activision, too! It’s for your our own good! I mean, your own good! Believe us!

I’d do 30, for sure. Definitely not doing 50.

From the CBS Story:

Right? That’s what I want to know!

Dual Wield’s popularity surprises me because between the non-existent range and attacks just bouncing off of anyone with a block bar I thought it felt terrible. Maybe I was just using it wrong tho...

Now THAT is how you do Spider-man right! WOW! And a Venom storyline with Peter and Miles? I am sold: Day 1 purchase for me.

I wouldn’t even mind them going to action if they did it like FF7R.

One thing I’ve come to realize recently is that the answer to “why can’t FF be turn-based” is almost the same answer as “why can’t MTV just play music.”

In short: it’s inexpensive and there is a low barrier to entry.  Turn-based is easy to implement.  Lots of smaller studios could just as easily make a turn-based game

Someone posted a screenshot on reddit earlier of Yoshi-P saying there wouldn’t be a day one patch in an interview so I’m guessing they’re feeling confident that it isn’t full of bugs and is somewhat well-polished. Hopefully that'll be the case.

I have to wonder if game designers play games anymore. It’s like they are too distant from the community. They’re outsiders. Do they read other reviews, participate in communities sites, play other games, etc?
