Well, you have to keep it's time on mind. Horny of DK 1 looks like the devil, seriously. He even beheads a knight in the intro. It was more dark. DK 2 was more cartoonish, sadly, but a reeeally fun game anyway. This one looks even more cartoonish, but maybe it's still fun.

This discussion reminds me of the flying mounts in WoW. I now get the point about a game direction. It's not always about convenience. In SR IV, which is over the top all the time, I'm OK with it. In WoW, it destroys a bit of the experience for many.
