The LiDAR is also moving to solid state. As the mechanicals and optics shrink (they will), we’ll likely see mini-LiDAR units on the edges of the vehicle, instead of a monolithic unit on top.

I have been stopped at a red light and seen two Uber Volvos, one of the little Waymo thingies, and some Chevy or Ford two-door economy car all from my vantage point.
