In Europe, and particularly Germany, VW is a bit more politically connected. The political impact of the economic impact of dumping thousands of local jobs has made this emissions impact a good bit less...um...impactful.

Hmm. Maybe memory did not serve as well as it could have. During that particular trip I took 10 flights in 11 days (on something like 6 different carriers) for a 3-continent video shoot. That trip included my first time on an A380, so I was rather excited.
