Can you read? He’s basing it on a structure of avoidance: It couldn’t be any more tone deaf if he stuck his fingers in his ears and cried “I can’t hear you” every time an interview brings up the treatment of women. Yeah the structure at Blizzard allowed them to shit on female employees but for that to persist these

I mean, the founders left a studio that was literally investigated by the State of California for sexism and harassment, founded a new one while speaking positively of ANOTHER studio that’s been specifically under fire for the same thing, and one of the founders even publicly commented on it. This isn’t just random

According to your article i guess that makes us sexist.

I work at a AAA studio, fewer than 1 in 10 CVs we get are from women. Not everything is caused by the patriarchy ffs”

Not everything is caused by the patriarchy, but the fact that you get so few women applicants definitely is.

30% so if this were an impartial selection of random people there’d be 3 women on this team. Looks like you found the problem.

This “startup” is all made of people from the same company. It’s more of a spin-off….of a company that’s under multiple investigations for a massive amount of sexual harassment. It’s not some sort of rag-tag bunch of strangers who don’t know each other getting together to build something new.

First of all, once the the founder decided to discuss the Blizzard scandal in a public interview, he 100% opens the door for considering his words and his staffing decisions as a leader.

They actually named their company “Notorious” - how can you NOT write this article when they’re trying to evoke an edgy, careless attitude with the very first thing people know about them?

It’s actually a “flatter system” that involves getting promoted by flattering your boss, which is sure to have no problems.

Can you articulate what it is about starting a new business that means you shouldn’t be scrutinized for your business practices? In my experience, that’s one of the BEST times to be extremely thoughtful and seek alternate viewpoints, because your business culture hasn’t calcified yet.

Whether a small development studio is all male or all female or what-have-you does not matter.

Why is that relevant?  Why does that hold them to a different standard?

bruh. they could have easily managed to hire one woman, but didn’t. chill.

He added that Notorious Studios has a “flatter structure,” made up of people who wrote code, made art, and designed pieces of games rather than serving as leads or directors.

Yes, it’s a startup, with all that that implies: if you get in on the ground floor, you have a chance for massive success later, but no one else who comes in later is ever going to have quite the same set of opportunities.

I dunno, you don’t think it’s weird that none of those 11 men pushed for a different perspective?

Seems more like a deliberate effort to exclude viewpoints they’re not interested in exploring.

My dad was one of those. Figuring out how to save money was fun for him, like a logic puzzle. He was obsessed with gas prices for a while, and was willing to drive quite some distance to save a buck and a half. For the most part he didn't inflict it on anyone else save my mom, who really should be beatified by now.

What I think is really interesting about this and other “fast food diet” experiments is that people often don’t gain much weight, or even lose weight despite consuming far more calories than normal and not exercising. Weight gain is clearly not a simple equation of more calories = more weight, and weight loss doesn’t

Taiwan is a wonderful country full of beautiful people and it will be an insanely tragic day if China does indeed ever flex their muscles. Even more tragic because at least to my knowledge Taiwan has some of - if not the - most liberal policies in East Asia, and so the lack of support and silence from supposed fellow

I think increasing numbers of employers are bumping up against the reality that there are more reasons behind people not wanting to work for them besides just pay.
