I think that is one of the biggest problems in this country today, lack of dialog. Some people are going to be racists no matter what and those people are pieces of shit, but take the time to talk to people. Listen to and understand different viewpoints and work together to make real change.

“He did not commit warfare against American citizens... they were Confederate citizens.” Okay, so by that logic anyone in Afghanistan is a terrorist and supporting terrorists so we should practice unrestricted warfare on them? Do you see the fallacy in your logic?

This is a good point. And people feel like they’re accomplishing something by taking the statues down, because it’s easier to protest and petition to remove a statue than it is to confront somebody who makes a racist comment or to create dialogue between people with different background or beliefs.

What thing in texas with the school books?

I was more relating to my experiences out in California how my 5th grade history textbok was radically different than my 6th grade (EG 5th grade covered the US grain exports to help ease the famines in russia, kent state, the vietnam protests and mistreatment of returning

I used to think that, but I dunno anymore... it feels and seems like historical revisionism is the new trend from where I’m sitting and watching.

Pretty neat. Too bad this information will probably get burned and lost to history considering the current state of things right now.

Clearly you don’t live in the south. I can guarantee the phrase “hold my beer” was spoken just before entering that sub.

These kind of stories that explain technology rushing ahead of the human physiology to handle it are interesting to me. One of the most fascinating parts of the story of the Brooklyn Bridge is that the innovative use of caissons to house the workers underwater as they built the main supports led to the Bends - or

Your comment made me ponder the definition and use of the term “supposed to” in relation to the pyrotechnics/explosives industry. “Supposed to” is probably a red flag in any shop/research & development/operator work space when dealing with these types of things...

We may not have statues of dictators we have gone to war with, but we do have statues of foreign dictators in this county. Josef Stalin,Vladmir Lenin, Chairman Mao, and though not technically a dictator there are statues dedicated to Che Guevara who is certainly a terrible person.

Necessity being the mother of invention and all that, it is an interesting story. Politics aside, it takes a special kind of bravery to squeeze into an old boiler with 7 of your friends with nothing but a hand crank for propulsion in order to attach 135 pounds of explosive to a ship. Also of note is that the reason

Depends on how you define success. If the goal is to blow up a ship almost undetected with a viable submersible, it was a brilliant success. The fact that they didn’t survive is a function of the firing mechanism, and not so much the sub. Basically, they proved the functional viability of subs as a weapon of war.

The next thing to read on the Internet, “The Surprising Way an Advanced Society Died at the Hands of Its Own Liberal Views”.

I wrote my senior thesis (in 1997) on this and other naval innovations of the Confederate Navy during the Civil War. It is important to note that the intention was not that the torpedo explode on impact, but that it would be lodged into the hull, with a rope attached to the firing mechanism. The crew would then

That really is. I saw that picture posted in the comments here after I made my comment. I may have found a 4 door pickup that I actually like.

That’s an AEV Brute, they’ve been selling them for a few years, just super pricey so you don’t see them often.

That be a brute.

As a former automotive whitebody design engineer [different OEM], all I can say is this is definitely the real deal. The CAD files could be out of date, maybe a previous design stage, and most likely this won’t be the final design 100%, based on feedback from testing, simulation, suppliers, factory, but this is not an

I am so excited about this.
