Thank you for a well written and thoughtful review. I'll be seeing this when I get a chance; as I thought The Crying Game and Interview With the Vampire were fantastic.

For a while James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd had plans to turn this into a series, but the plans were shelved due to the technical difficulty involved. I agree though, I'd love to see the Mars series properly realized with the huge caveat that they get it right; it would break my poor heart to see this series

I'm just using Surface Detail as an example, but I think in the right hands The Culture could make for an awesome TV series. While I'd still like to see them adapt one of the books for the big screen, I'm dubious to how well that would play out given what happened with World War Z (and plenty of other adaptations). I

I thought it was one of Cameron's better story's. I respect that he passed it along to his (ex) wife to direct. Despite his ego, he recognized that Bigelow could bring the visual style that he wanted for the movie.

Cheers, much appreciated : )

Does anyone know if PSN use will still be free for PS3 owners after the launch of the PS4? Or is everyone going to have to start paying for PSN when the new system launches?

I wish she could have been Storm in X-Men.

I want to go on a safari in Jurassic Park with Leeloo; she'll protect me from the Raptors. The we can go dancing on the Titanic.

I know, it was a very classy and stylish way to end the film, with a great song playing too. Kathryn Bigalow has great taste.

It's not uncommon for some British series to only do one or two seasons (or series, as they say there). But maybe it's better it ended rather than go on to become stale.

I wonder what happened to her? I haven't seen her in much lately, which is a shame, as she's a really good actor.

Let's hope this is a case of "Rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated." - (to be read in a Sean Connery accent).

As much as I hate to be that guy, let me just say this; in Battlestar Galactica they said there was a plan also, and that turned out a bit cockeyed. Now, I loved BSG, and I'm enjoying Defiance more and more each week, but this show more than any in recent history had me on the tight rope of optimism and pessimism. I

Thanks, much appreciated!

Jon Stewart once described this film as "a cross between Star Wars and the smell of ass."

Must be one of the wittiest films I've seen in a long time, and endlessly quotable.

One of the many things I hate about advertising - they obviously didn't know how to present it. I'm just glad I got to see it on the big screen, as it played in theaters for less than a month.

I know what you mean - this is darkened room with phone off material; it simply cannot be appreciated any other way. I was lucky enough to see it in the theater during its (undeservedly) short run, and I was blown away. Actual new years eve 1999 kind of paled in comparison ; )

I don't think people knew what to make of it. It was certainly very disturbing, which probably put a few people off. I thought the story was great, the SQUID plot device was clever and I could believe how addictive it was, and Bigelow really sold this city on the edge of riots on the eve of the millennium. And you're

There's a lot to choose from, but seeing as a few others have posted Dredd, I'm going with Strange Days. It really will probably be a love it or hate it film for a lot of people. I think it is awesome, while not ignoring its problems. Given that it's an SF film set in 1999, it is probably best viewed now as an
