It'll make an interesting comparison. That Christmas special was all about rebirth and renewal; it makes me wonder how they'll handle this one? How will they handle the juxtaposition of Christmas cheer with impending doom? While I liked a lot of The End of time, I felt it got pretty indulgent and dragged things on a

That could work if handled right, but I'm kind of hoping they don't go that root just because I feel it would be disrespectful to Matt Smith to have him regenerate half way through. A regeneration story, IMHO, should really be that Doctor's swan song, and focus on his character and the choices and sacrifices he must

I'm not dissing Dwayne Johnson or anything, but do they really need to cast such a huge guy? Why not get a more normal looking man or woman? Cameron's original idea was for a sort of infiltration unit that can easily blend in, and that's an idea he went with in T2 with the T-1000 and they ran with in Sarah Conner

As much as I, and many many others, would love to see that happen, Lena Headey is going to be busy with GoT for quite a few years to come : (

re #2: That is basically what the did with Sarah Conner Chronicles; it followed pretty much from T2 and ignored T3 completely, except for one or two plot points that I won't mention for fear of spoilers. Good ideas in this list, by the way : )

Beat me too it! But yeah spot on, I had way more invested in those characters and story's than anything from the last two movies (which I didn't hate, BTW, they just felt pointless).

Is the battle of Yonkers even in this movie? I'm willing to go out on a short limb and bet that one chapter has more nail biting suspense and 'holy crap!' moments than this whole movie.

I was into science fiction before this, but reading Red mars (swiftly followed by the rest of the series) reaaly cemented the deal for me.

I generally prefer the original novels to the movie adaptations, but, having said that, there are exceptions: While I liked Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep (having read it once only, mind you), I have to say I liked Blade Runner a whole lot more. The same thing goes for Fight Club.

I thought Strange Days was an underrated masterpiece.

What a crime that show was cancelled, especially with so much left unresolved. I'd have settled for at least a mini series to resolve things, but no such luck. I already liked the show during its first season, and thought the casting was great, but then casting Shirley Manson as a T-1001? A dream come true.

Hi Lauren, I just wanted to say thank you so much for sharing this : )

That was lovely. I enjoyed the music that went with it, sort of brought me back to my after the rave days, listening to ambient music while getting lost in the screen saver. I was half hoping to see the TARDIS in there.

I'm getting more and more worried this is the kind of future we are heading for.

I don't know if you've read it, but The Windup Girl paints a pretty vivid and terrifying image of what kind of future we'll live in if that comes to pass.

I would seriously live in one of those.

Now I feel a bit daft. I guess this isn't old enough to be considered a classic yet.

For a while in the nineties James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd were attempting to make it into a TV series, but it never got off the ground. I love those books, but the logistics of turning it into a good TV series (or films for that matter) are staggering.

Earth by David Brin. It'd maybe need a bit of re-working here and there, but I'd argue it is as topical now as it was twenty odd years ago.

I think in the right hands this could make an incredible movie.
