What I learned from this experience is simple: most pickup truck owners don’t care what they need. They care only what they want.

Make it with a manual and a low range switch/button/lever. Simple request, make a bunch of us Tacoma owners give it a second look.

Price is going to be a major issue. A Colorado Z71 crew cab (V6, RWD, etc.) can be had for $31-31.5k (MSRP $2k more).

If you don’t care about Z71 badging or the power driver’s seat, the LT without luxury package (leather + power/heated seats) is probably $2k less than that.

Are there significant drawbacks to only being able to adjust cam timing based on RPM and not engine load? How advantageous is it to be able to change the relationship between RPM and phase angle on the fly, rather than being bound by physical relationships like Hooke’s law and centripetal force?
