How are you distinguishing between a meme and a merited success at this stage, though? You don’t know what this game’s long term sales are like, it hasn’t been out long enough. It seems like you could make this same argument right after any high profile game launch if you happen to dislike the game.

Pokemon sword and shield has sold 26 million copies and Scarlet and Violet sold over 23 million.  For Nintendo, the system sells the games and the games sell the system.  It’s a symbiotic relationship for them.

good to see a small studio doing well with what appears tonbe a fun game.

Now playing

Looks a bit more convenient than the Omni One VR Platform.

They have to be of the same vein as Trumps supports. Makes no friggin sense but they’re around and kicking.

I feel like this should really be understood at this point. don’t reveal your nintendo IP related projects until you release it and do so using a vpn and burner accounts. once it is in the wild it is in the wild and Nintendo can't do much to stop it.

There’s clearly a deliberate attempt to make players see these monsters and associate them with Pokemon, and a lot of the designs have obvious similarities - even moreso than other Pokemon-likes. But claiming one creature is clearly a rip-off of another because of one or two design similarities - plant dinosaurs with

Okay, now I’m reaching the point where it would have just been nice to have an actual FF7 remake.

Man, FFVII is already pretty confusing and opaque in parts, but at least we’ve had a couple decades to become acquainted with it. Remake/Rebirth trying to retrofit the story to Frankenstein together every piece of lore and subsequent branch of the story is making this whole thing into a convoluted mess.

They’re showing way too much of this game and I’m not sure why. They did the same thing with 16. Who else do they need to sell it to? They’re blowing a couple hundred mil on another marketing blitz for a game that is going to get free coverage all year but shot Octopath 2 and Star Ocean 2 into the ether.

Then you’ll be the coolest car out there.

Interestingly, both of those games were made by Ambrella, which was a third party developer that made Pokemon spin-offs. Creatures (one of the 3 owners of Pokemon, along with GameFreak and Nintendo) bought Ambrella a couple of years ago. Creatures manages the TCG and merchandise (which is where the real money is), but

Yoshida is basically running his division like a separate company these days and trying to ignore everything Kiryu says.

Taking the Konami route I see. This may be the end of the careers of a lot of prolific artists at Square, including the ones of the FF team.

Wow, Squenix is just on the wrong side of literally every issue aren’t they

I can’t wait for us to get past this whole point. It isn’t going anywhere and won’t be regulated away. I still remember how up in arms everyone one was about how digital art was going to ruin the entire industry. A decade or two from now & an article like this will seem even sillier than it currently does. Adapt or

I was CACKLING at the Iguazu reveal, love this little POS almost as much as I enjoy shutting him up

Just two things;

Kotaku equating AI to NFTs might be the dumbest thing I’ve read in a while. AI has legitimate uses across multiple industries and is inevitably going to be a part of most future development pipelines. It’s not some cash grab fad that’s going to quickly fade away like NFTs.

I agree with most of this list, with two exceptions.
