This is why I have always treated Kickstarter as patronage of the arts, and not as a preorder, at least when it comes to digital goods that haven’t been made yet.

But it is Apple USB-C. An amazing new technological invention.

My problem with buying games on Apple hardware is that compatibility gets broken, and Apple’s own love affair with games is on-and-off. Every once in a while they pay lip service to games but it is almost an afterthought for them most of the time.

I’ve got no problem paying more for games if the publishers would commit to that money going directly to higher wages for the developers.

Games at large almost certainly should’ve ripped off that $60 band-aid sooner than they did. That price holding for over 3 decades was nuts, and brought alllll the other alternative monetization methods, some of which turned out to be infinite money glitches and obviated a sticker price at all. But now that all those

I’m just here to laugh at that fucking $70 usb-c cable. Apple fans are more gullible than audiophiles when it comes to snake oil accessories lol

I can’t imagine playing a game like this with touch controls.

Pfft. When I got my NES it came with two games, two controllers, a light gun and a robot!

Back in my day, you got a free cartridge with your Atari or Nintendo and you were going to like it!

I feel like they damaged the brand so badly last week that they may have had no other choice than to remove that “Made with Unity” screen for personal licenses.

Sweet Jesus. How that CEO is not fired already is beyond me.

At this point the damage is already done. Fuck Unity. Every developer that is able to do so should start working toward publishing any future projects they start on something other than Unity. If it’s not feasible for a project to change mid-development, then that should be finished with Unity and they should work

Lol, it doesn’t matter. They might retain some smaller indies, but any larger indie studios or AA/AAA studios who were previously using unity are gonna jump. Any new developers are going to find so much negativity towards unity when evaluating what engine to use they’re going to use godot or unreal.

It is going to take

With how damning the evidence is that they intentionally rigged their game to manipulate players to make accidental or unwanted purchases, 245 million is a slap on the wrist.

I would hate for them to buy Nintendo. First of all, "their success lies off their hardware" means they would kill the Switch and move things onto Xbox. Second of all, no I can't argue this anymore it's just too awful to consider

Holy shit, just when I thought I couldn’t dislike Phil Spencer any more.

Dude’s idea of success is ‘buy all the competition’ rather than, you know, actually investing in his own developers to make better games.  Sure buddy, try to buy the company that has consistently trounced the shit out of you in console sales

They wouldn’t. It’s a guy spouting off a pipe dream.

Oh man Elden Ring needed PS+ for that stuff? I guess I technically did play online sometime in the past two years then! Still canceling my sub when it runs out.

I got the notification that PS+ Essential was going up to $80 on the next renewal and I just cancelled it. There haven’t been many (if any) good free games on the essential tier in ages. The only multiplayer I’ve used since I bought the PS5 was a couple of summons for tricky Elden Ring bosses, but I think I can get by

I know at investors meetings they’ve talking about NSO being something to ease people into the next system since that’ll be a big library built right in (don’t remember the exact phrasing but it definitely implied NSO would carry over) but who knows if that’ll be true of all of the games. Every handheld was backwards

I am desperately hoping that they do the smart thing and support backwards compatibility despite the fact I'm pretty sure they won't.
