As a lifelong sports fan, (And long ago former middle school, HS athlete), it frustrates me to keep hearing this kind of bias against eSports athletes.
No one is entitled to content. There is such a plethora of ways to know if a game is interesting that “I need to demo” is no longer a valid excuse.

Weapons Check just means the staff looks over the prop and makes sure it’s not an actual weapon. Depending on the thickness and weight of the shield, it could be banned, but I doubt it was that heavy/thick. If it passes, they just put some little tag on it to show that they checked it out.
You buy a game, keep said game as data, and then resell it. That is pirating with extra steps.
If you copied a game to your system and then sold it off you have in fact pirated that game.

That’s a pretty big assumption, to say the least, the guy quoted in this post ZeRo, says he usually plays around 6 hours a day and 8-10 when a tournament comes up.
They should have been considerate to the world, and removed Ryuji all together.
