I do not despise conservatives or consider them to be mentally ill or evil.

But people who defend and/or follow Rush? I do think you’ve had your brain hijacked. He’s like an evangelical preacher: part bully and part fear monger. He knows what buttons to push to keep you listening.

You mean it is a bit like saying “Limbaugh”?

No, sorry. I’m happy to see Limbaugh discredited because he turns listeners into crazy ditto-heads. If there’s a listener at a family gathering you can’t say “teacher”, “education” “medical bill,” “insurance,” “pot hole,” “national park” or any word that Rush has managed to link with the boogie-man “leftist agenda”.

I agree. The ending was deeply unsettling.

Maybe they also wanted to exclude the Welsh and Irish?

Are you reading my mind? I always think of those 2 movies when thinking about how great Debra Winger is. I know she had to fight to keep her character from being buried under Redford’s on Legal Eagles. Maybe that was the beginning of the end for her.

But first, we need and Earth Girls Are Easy sequel

Thanks! I’ll watch it. I love that she didn’t settle. I wish there were roles in major movies that suited her talent. It would be so depressing to see her playing some “mom” or “grandma”.

The term anglo-saxon is there to exclude people from slavic nations. You don’t really think the Polish, Latvians or Czechs are the equals of those of English descent, do you? I mean, really.

Now I’m imagining him in a Bugs Bunny cartoon, shrugging his shoulders and saying “Eh, it’s a living.”

Debra Winger is so talented. Look at her movie list from the 80’s, those were some classics and she had a lot to do with that. Did Hollywood just age her out out of lead roles?

That’s inspired.

I love Rutger Hauer. Wouldn’t he make an amazing Scrooge?

She is really amazing.

I’ll always love him because of Room with a View, but he was surrounded by a great cast, had a limited role, and the director got more from him than he could achieve on his own. I just haven’t been impressed with anything else he’s done.

Is it just me, or did his career start to go downhill after Bowfinger, a little 1999 movie that made fun of Scientology? I’ve always imagined he was sabotaged from within.

I grew up bilingual (speaking English plus a Northern European language) and I never recall a single incident of anyone making that kind of comment to me and my family, or even giving us a side-eye. There was the occasional curious look but no condemnation. I’m sure our being white gave us a free pass.

Practically all ghost sightings and “creepy feelings” are almost certainly caused by low frequency sound out of the range of human hearing.

I don’t blame you for not believing or assuming that other people just have overactive imaginings. I would probably feel the same if I hadn’t experienced it myself. In fact, in my time living there, I kept trying to deny it, then something that couldn’t be denied would happen again and I’d be resigned to accepting the

I saw her myself. It looked like a 12-13 year old girl, with long light-brown hair in a long yellow nightgown (or dress) with a pink ribbon. So clear, I thought she was a real person until she went through a closed door. I also experienced some of the physical events. It was less frightening than unsettling.
