I’m going to stop you pretty early, as comparing a personal friend who makes a personal effort to hurt you to what the ooblets team is doing is not even close enough to an appropriate metaphor for me to consider it.

You seem pretty salty at being stigmatized for being a rapidly heated shitlord nerd who is upset about a game you probably wouldn’t buy entering exclusivity on a platform you don’t like in the face of your on-going support for a digital monopoly that is Steam.
I think that’s fair. Unfortunately, there is a cultural trope about gamers that is true for many of them. It’s really hard for me to maintain much sympathy for them, because their own misery is often very self inflicted.
I used to hang out with a smug gamer who talked down to everyone around him and he was very self important and would get really upset about stuff like this. He’s miserable and will probably die alone.
I feel like I’m just going to say that a bunch of people were shot up this weekend and it was very sad.
I mean, all of what you said. This whole thing is ridiculous. How much does this game even cost? $20? $60? All this noise for nothing.
Damn finally someone explained this insanity with some reasonable thought. Here’s the thing: you seem to understand the real issue people are upset about yet I don’t think you even believe this backlash is justified at all.
I mean, I hear what you’re saying, but the wave of behavior now just feels like children throwing a temper tantrum. Sorry.
I’m really interested in people showing the same level of vitriol toward things that matter, not outlandish over-the-top fury over a cutsie monster collector.
I would hardly correlate the two things. One is a cheeky “we’re on this platform sry.” and the other is “I’m going to murder you.” How is that ok?
I mean...it is nothing on the smug asshole communications of gamer pricks on literally any forum. I mean, have you ever hung out with gamers? Are they fun or just generally awful?
For real? Seriously dude? As a gamer, when is the threshold crossed where people are harassing too much? Would you want to be treated that way?
I mean, kind of on the flip side, the level of over the top furious fanboys is pretty insane. I’m almost celebrating how angry they are because in the eyes of myself - someone not invested in either party, I kind of love seeing people that seem like their lives are so small and sad this is what makes them wake up.
The snark is there, but like, is it REALLY there? How much of this is the sensitive fee-fees of people who just REALLY want this to be on one store front to save some finger clicks and won’t admit they are fanboys of another product?
What are the legitimate reasons though? I’m genuinely curious about what the level of anger that we’re seeing is justified in the eyes of many. Why is this - of all things - causing so much heat? It’s a mother fucking storefront. Security issues? Ok. Fair enough. but what else?
What is your justification for the level of hatred spewed at these devs?
There are a lot of people who could use a break from gaming for a period of self-reflection and personal wellness.
As someone who used to listen to a lot of Contemporary Christian Music, the quotes around “Christian” is wholly appropriate. So many of those folks are just second rate performers who couldn’t make it mainstream and rebrand for a niche audience with Jesus-friendly lyrics. Hell, Katy Perry did it herself, but actually…
Lol. This whole thing is dumb. My favorite KP factoid is her first album was a Christian album anyway. It’s not bad!
