I've owned every main console since the Atari and the Fairchild Channel F system. This will be the first console since 1977 I refuse to buy. I do however, hope the last minute tweaks give some benefit to those planning on purchasing.

I played it a couple years ago - & I am playing it again now. It is pretty great.

I don't see them making a Steam competitor. Their one big exclusive (Titanfall) will only be available on EA's Origin. It doesn't make any sense, so I expect Windows Live to launch this Holiday 2013.
