After this year I don't see THQ being in business much longer. They barely stayed listed thanks to the reverse split on their stock.

They don't have to make a profit at all on the console, in fact they should be taking a loss. Based on the business model of selling game consoles you take a loss on the console sale to build a sizable market share. Once you build the console's user base the royalties received from software sales covers your losses…

I'd argue that Sony didn't learn with the PS Vita. It is still priced too high as evidenced by the abysmal sales of the device. For a successful launch they need to sell at a loss! I think that PS Vita needs to be at least the same price at the 3DS.

If the new consoles block used games then this will effectively be the end of console gaming as we know it. Software sales will plummet and the free to play model will become the way that most people get their games. I'm sure at least Microsoft and Nintendo aren't that stupid. Who knows about Sony's plans. Vita's super low sales and the PS4s HUGE launch costs might just end Sony as we know it. I'd prefer if they went the way of Sega and just made games.

EA sure is stubborn. After the failure of their Star Wars MMO you'd think this game would be free to play from the start. At least give the game away and a 1 month free trial to get players hooked. I'm not buying a game and then paying a monthly fee to play. I don't understand why any consumer would fall for that.
