I bought a PS3 back in August; Dragon's Crown was finally the tipping point for me. Considering that it and so many other great PS3 games aren't backwards compatible, I'm hanging onto it even after the games dry up; I find that my urge to revisit older games has become more prevalent as technology moves forward, and I

I see BC as a more political move than a technical one, going back to 2009 when Activision leaned on Sony about PS2 backwards compatibility being the main reason nobody was buying PS3 games. I believe the threat that if the issue wasn't 'fixed' that Activision would have to reconsider publishing PS3 games in 2010 was

44.

It's granted that most modern games balance the two elements, although far too many push graphics over gameplay to disasterous effect.

This is simply something we're going to disagree on, and that's okay. When you consider more people play games on smartphones than any other current platform, it sure isn't because of the graphics. I'm not sure how this discussion go so far off-track; it went from you wondering why people still play WoW when the

I do play regular Nintendo; typically more than current-gen.

That's actually good to hear...maybe the 3DS will remain an ambassador while the Wii U languishes in relative obscurity.

Eh, I guess if you never played Gauntlet Legends/Dark Legacy, the appeal might be lost.

Rick S.Lamu?

Mario doesn't have the pull he used to. Not sure if they just flooded the market with too many titles, but they went from being special events to run-of-the-mill within a single generation.

Which recent game? If it wasn't SwapForce, you did it wrong.

To be fair, there's not much to write home about in the Xbox One launch lineup, either.

I mentioned last year that it was going to be a victim of Dreamcast Syndrome, and I'm sticking with that prognosis.

He's right, actually...it's near Ratchet and Clank quality, far beyond the initial two games in the series.

I'd say it's less about graphics and more about gameplay. Think GTA V would've sold any less if it looked like GTA 4? Of course not; people just wanna go out and be thugs.

Doesn't mean they bought more copies, only that companies return to the well more often than they should.

That's where my head's at. This is the first generation of consoles since the Genesis where I haven't bought a new system at launch.

People still preorder? I mean, I guess I could see it for collector's editions, but for Call of Duty? Were we afraid that Activision would NOT produce a billion dollars worth of copies at launch?

My Vita will forever be known as the system that the last known Wipeout game appeared on; that alone guarantees it a place in my personal museum. Granted, Gravity Rush and Dragon's Crown are good arguments for it as well...hell, Dragon's Crown convinced me I needed a PS3.

At this point, taking shots at the Wii U is simply a waste of ammunition.
