Definitely agree on bringing your own helmet. For hygiene but also fitment. Finding a XXL helmet at karting and track days can be a royal pain in the ass.

The only place i can sort of add an asterix to is with regards to the exhaust system for certain cars. Again it’s an asterix not a disagreement.

True but a 15 year old car with barely any miles that never went higher than half it’s RPM range might actually need a lot of engine TLC to run back at full power because occasionally pushing the engine actually helps keep it clean. I’m a firm believer in having actual performance mufflers (glasspacks) over straight pipes and last week’s /Drive Engineering video on exhaust systems pretty much gave me extra ammo in my stance.

Have you checked forums for fixes? There could be an aftermarket solution to that. In my mustang, sometimes when driving hard the shifter wouldn’t want to go through the gate. The cause was a misalignment between the shifter housing and well, the rest of the transmission because of the varying torque loads shifting
