I'm fairly ignorant about most of the things you mentioned and just meant to comment on his resemblance to an aging Hunter S. Thompson. I succumb to ego when I don't clarify my posts.

Unrelated to the topic at hand, but every time I see a photo of this guy I imagine him with a cigarette holder, a tall glass of Wild Turkey and a head full of LSD.
I don't identify as asexual, but I don't really give a shit about sex anymore. There's a been there, done that quality to it that I do find a bit dull. Like acid, it was fun in my early 20's, but now it's too much trouble to get and just thinking about doing it makes me feel sort of tired.
No, it was just a hyperbolic way of pointing out the exploitative side of the film - regardless of how much time has passed, it's still thrills and profit from the misery and death of others. It's an expertly crafted movie, and at times terrifically entertaining, but it is sensational and occasionally artless in a…
During its first release, a guy I went to school with called it a 200 million dollar snuff film and I haven't been able to shake that description since. Not totally fair, but it's the first thing I think of whenever it's mentioned.
Hi everyone! I'm totally hammered drunk. I just want you to know how happy I am to be able to talk at you. I'm smoking a cigarette and I'm safe. And I'm so lucky to be alive at this time and at this location in the universe. I wish the best for you and I hope that you're similarly lucky and happy too.
If it happened within your lifetime you can, you can go back to your birth. I took credit for directing E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial in 1982.
This is such an important point to make. I'll occasionally read a point like BEE makes here, and I'll find myself start to agree - and it's because the word bullying doesn't really convey its spectrum and the gravity of its extremes. Instead it makes me think of kids taunting one another with childish insults. I…
Yeah, I definitely can't disagree with that.
I've only seen the original four films with Reeve - which other movies reiterate his origin story other than Superman: The Movie nearly 35 years ago?
If you read this article as though it was written by a contemporary Bret Easton Ellis character, it's not too bad!
Oh, love and romance. So magical.
I haven't watched it yet, so maybe I'll discover I was wrong when I do. I don't doubt that Hugo deserves effects and art direction, but there were images in the TTOL that looked like they were pulled directly from my memory and projected onto the screen and, as far as I could tell, with almost no digital manipulation.
I agree about the The Artist, the actual story was was pretty uninspired. And I'd disagree with that critic that TTOL won't age well. I expect it to age better than every other film that was nominated (but I am a Malick fan and *probably* biased).
I can understand why The Tree of Life didn't win best picture, and maybe I can even understand why Malick didn't win best director, but the cinematography? Come on!
Glad to hear others were underwhelmed - after hearing so many great things, I was pretty disappointed once I finally watched it. It left me with the strong impression of style over substance. The story was an absolute bore. I also hate adorable little dogs.
Remember that many intelligent men would be less likely to participate in an exercise like this to begin with. The most eager opinions are rarely the most interesting or insightful, so these responses are just about what I would expect.
I can explain. The articles aren't being presented as being about individual, personal tastes: it's implied that these tastes are somehow reflective of the preferences of all men. It's a cynical ploy that knowingly exploits the insecurities and outrage of the reader base in exchange for page views. It seems to…
I think Jezebel should ditch this series entirely or, at least, frame it differently. None of these articles have anything to do with what men think. It's the collected opinions of a very small group of individual men who speak only for themselves.
I'd like some more information about this courageous panel that speaks on my behalf. All white American men between the ages of 21 and 35, I presume?
