While I think this method is over the top safety wise, there are tons of people that burn down their house, garage, or wind up in emergency because of making a stupid mistake while frying.
@Gonzie: So you mean to tell me you can upgrade your 6-7 year old PPC to SL or are you referring to the transfer to a new PC?
@Tesla_: No, you would have to upgrade to Vista then to 7.
@ericesque: It's great for stuff you want to keep on top of but don't want to be bothered looking otherwise.
Damn, that's pretty cool. I just cleaned up around 200 bookmarks!
@veezy39: If you want to get work done I personally would steer away from Linux. It might just be me, but when I was starting out I found myself fiddling with stuff for hours on end and wasted tons of time I should have spent doing work.
The interface is pretty much the same as my Hero's exception being the colors and the goofy icons.
@Marand: I started using RH in 97 or 98 as well, but I never left :P
I do if I see something I like. I make a conscious effort to do it because like most people I don't even notice the ads otherwise.
@range: I lived that way actually from maybe 1997-2004 or 5 and have reverted (I did rent a movie or two every couple months). I pay for Netflix and basic digital cable now.
@not_a_virus.exe.vbs: I'm with you and unfortunately I think part of the problem is people blocking ads.
@Michael C Pearson: The main thing I don't like about JD is that you're using S3 (there is a 2nd option isn't there?)... The costs for transfers kinda piss me off to be honest. I'm game when it comes to paying for storage, but the bandwidth charges strike a nerve.
@tech4eleven: Live Mesh allows you to flag any folder you want. It also creates a copy not only on the cloud, but puts a copy on each computer that is setup to sync that folder.
@Marand: Are you from Europe? Normally RH back then was American's and Australians. Suse and Debian had Europe.
@ogoldberg: It's all about what you're used to and every dist is basically the same damn thing as far as the average or even above average user goes. I've been using RH/FC since the late 90's (short affair with Caldera tossed in there somewhere) on and off, but for the last few years it's been RHE and CentOS only as I…
@ghostwind: It definitely sounds like something is goofed up if it's case sensitive. I would assume that would cause more problems than just running the application...
@baylors: Yea, but that's edu speeds ;)
@LukeTeaford: It sounds like it can't write to the system32 folder or it's a bug in the RC. It's possible that in the RC the permissions on the system32 folder were different, you might want to check them.
@ghostwind: As tkarpinksi pointed out; case doesn't matter (usually doesn't in Windows). powercfg -energy works.
