So, TLC. Is this the modern day freak show? Should we feel bad for gawking at this stuff? Even the shows where it is framed to be empowering for the people featured, it often comes off as a joke. We take it as something we can laugh at in order to feel better about our own more normal lives.
I'd say that national discussions were probably a lot better in the 70's than they are now. A national discussion today is two days of internet trolling about guns and then everyone getting back to pictures of cats.
