@McHoon: The reason why I asked is a past acquaintance (can't really call him a friend or we would still be in touch) I worked with, who's name is Dave, had a Chartreuse Fiat X1/9 as his first car, while I had an identical colored Opel. Obviously, my car lasted a bit longer, and started in the rain.

@K5ING: My first car was a 1966 Monza Convertible, and yea, it was a trouble maker. But I remember it most during the summer nights, cruising with the top down, and at least a couple times a month, I had a couple of girlfriends sit on top of the rear seat while we cruised down the Berlin Turnpike.

This posting seems to be light as far as comments go. Sorry, I haven't got anything else to say.

@P.Ξ.L.M. wants a Ford RAPTOR !: He's been doing this for over 2 years now. Although he's mellowed over the past couple of months, he was a real firebrand when I first encountered "Accordsforall" as a member of the TCC forum.

@UDMan: Now for my account on the New England 24 Hours of LeMons, at Car Domain:

I love the fact that Murilee helps me introduce some of my work for all of you to enjoy, as I'm a Corvair fan from way back when.

Compare this ad to the new Buick ad. This is inspiring, while the Buick ad is insipid. This is forward thinking, while the Buick ad is ass. This is visually stimulating, while the Buick ad is visually disturbing.

@Murilee Martin: If she runs, and receives the Republican Nomination, it will guarantee another 4 year term for Obama. So, I say run Sarah, run.

@Mad_Science: Well, it's about time someone else on this damn blog agreed with my point of view... I was wondering if I was the only one.

@McHoon: Your first name doesn't happen to be Dave, does it?

As a dog owner, I never leave my Beagle in the car at all. If I can't take him into where ever I'm going, he stays home in his area (I have a special xtra large crate for him) in the Kitchen.

My first car was a 1966 Corvair Monza Convertible. I can get a decent one for less than $5,000, and mine wasn't that special; Maroon, Black Interior, Powerglide.

@skierpage: There are many many people who want to get back to a "simpler" time, almost a parody of the idealistic 50'sThe want to have things like no welfare what-so-ever, institutionalize the mentally ill and disadvantaged, have everyone compete for self-sufficiency, roll back wages to near slave labor for people

@jodark: Unlike you, my internet friend, I don't have children, nor will I (at least that I know about). However, I see your point, so let me answer it this way:

Alright, enough carping about the Cask for Clunkers, Government buy back scheme. May you all celebrate the dance of the enthusiast. However, I would like to ask one very important question. What the hell would you have done to try and stimulate sales?

@Al Navarro: As bad as Garage 419 was, this is a bit more disturbing.

I did not heed the warning. God, why didn't I just ignore this posting like I did with the others?

I just drove this beast, and there will be a full write up at (REDACTED), so watch for it. What a beast!

Of course, being Jalopnik, you have to love the Chevy El Camino, or in this case The GMC Sprint!
